I thought this was interesting....saw this on the news last night and wanted to post about it on here.

https://citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009902210340

It doesn't say this in the article, but on the news last night they said that the protestors were planning to organize a breastfeeding sit-in. Where they would all go into the restaraunt and just start breastfeeding. I thought this was great! It sounds like they came to a solution though..haha, darn! Honestly though, I completely stand by this mom to protest....she has every right to feed her child where she pleases.

Just wanted to share! :)

I agree anyone should be able to feed their child where they wish to... But I will be honest, I do feel more comfortable when women arn't as show-offish about it. People dont like hearing this, but when someone has their boob out (and you can clearly see lots) it is distracting. Luckily here most people are alot more modest with coverups and there seems to be an equal respect bettween bfing moms and others.

I know, not the comment people want to hear.

i agree.....why would you want to have your WHOLE boob out anyway.....

but saying that even if i saw a woman with her whole boobie out i wouldnt think anything anyway...she is feeding her bubba.....

When I was feeding Caitlyn in a restaurant I tried to cover it up so much it was even more obvious!!

Its not the fact the your bfing that makes people uncomfortable though... so coverup might be obvious... but at least people arn't seeing your boob? You know what I mean?

People don't see women bfing or boobs out in public every second of the day... So ya, when someone is bfing and has their boob hanging out, then it can make people a little uncomfortable. Its something unusual...

Personally, if I saw that, I would look away and avoid it. Ive seen lots of people using overups etc and it doesnt bother me though.

But thats just my opinion.

I agree, I have always tried to have a blanket or something with me to cover up if I breastfeed in public places. On the news ( I wish they would have put this in the article) the woman said she had used a blanket to cover up as she felt people looking at her, the manager then came out and told her people were complaining and she would have to cover it up more. Minutes later, the manager came up to her again and told her she would have to leave if she wanted to continue nursing. So harsh!

I can no longer use a cover with Brenn, he just pulls it off. Lucky for me Austin is a hippy town, and no one even cares if you have a boob out or not.

I use a blanket to cover me partially if guests come into my house. I dont care if the health visitor sees my boob but for peopel like teen cousins who call with aunty or OH mates I will partially cover, some I will leave the room for. I think however you should feed where you like, breasts are for feeding babies thats what they are intended to do and thats all. How can the most natural thing like nuetering human life be seen as a taboo? Ignorance as usual.

i have to admit if i saw a woman with her whole boob out feeding-id be uncomfortable. but feeding descreetly isnt a problem to me. theres no need to have everything on show.

keely.

I understand that some people would be uncomfortable, but would you actually complain about it or would you just not look?

I would just not look....I could never complain, but there are a lot of confrontational people out there who wouldn't have a problem complaining.

I can see both points of view on this, but for me if we are out and my daughter wants a feed i wont think about it my instincts now is to simply get it out! I normally wear a scarf or a loose top but it is obvious to other people what im doing so they tend to stare more x

You make a good point though. I don't know many women who WANT everyone seeing their boob. I think most of us *try* to be discreet. But some babies just won't eat with a cover on (like mine) and sometimes they just pull off unexpectantly before you can cover yourself. Also, when a mom and baby are just learning to breastfeed, it is hard...and sometimes they kind of have to let it all hang out as they get baby latched on, etc. I don't care how much you practice at home, once you try to feed baby in public, when they are more distracted...well, it just takes practice, and sometimes your boob hangs out in the process. I do not believe bf moms should have to stay in the house just because they are bfing. I am never offended when I see a boob out there and if anything, I usually feel bad for the mom because I know she would rather not have it hanging out there either. I try to give her some privacy/respect and pay her no mind. I have to wonder why people often just assume the worst- that she is purposely trying to make people uncomfortable??? Sure, I guess there are some women who want to make a point, but I guess when I see a boob hanging out, I assume she is having some difficulty.
