Its dawned on me Im totally clueless and she may be feeding so frequently because shes not getting enough in one go...

How long should she be feeding at one time?

How long does it take before your milk switches from fore to hind milk?

How long does it take to drain a breast/when should I offer the next one if she feeds for a long time?

Is it ok at this stage to try her on a bottle of expressed milk? (shes ok at latching on)

She wont take a dummy Ive only tried once will she take one eventually if I keep trying?

How much expressed milk should I give her at one time?

She falls asleep pretty quickly(10 mins) whilst feeding should I wake her up and give her more? Its pretty hard to wake her up most of the time

How long should she be feeding at one time? it depends, katie sometimes feeds for 10 mins, sometimes an hour

How long does it take before your milk switches from fore to hind milk?not really sure, it adapts to baby's needs, if its really hot you have more foremilk

How long does it take to drain a breast/when should I offer the next one if she feeds for a long time? they used to say 10 mins each side i think, i just leave katie on til she comes off, she lets me know when there's no more!!

Is it ok at this stage to try her on a bottle of expressed milk? (shes ok at latching on) they say leave it 6 weeks, i tried katie at the same sort of age i think, she took to it fine, but i stopped and now she wont take one!!

She wont take a dummy Ive only tried once will she take one eventually if I keep trying?keep trying she might do, every baby's different tho, katie takes hers sometimes, but i hardly ever give her one

How much expressed milk should I give her at one time?i think i started with about 3 oz, she'll leave what she doesnt want and if she needs more you'll know!

Its pretty hard to wake her up most of the time they say one of the signs they've had enough is that they fall asleep, that and that their arms both go relaxed. if she doesnt wake when you move her she's fine


others might say different, at the end of the day all babies are different, thats just what i've found with katie xx

Hi, I'm no expert but here's my experience so far

How long should she be feeding at one time? Isaiah varies from 10mins to 45mins, usually around 15-20mins average

It seems to vary for me, sometimes he can't get any more out after 15 mins other times he sucks away for 45?? If Isaiah is still awake after winding and starts chewing his hands, I'll offer the other breast as I guess he's still hungry

Is it ok at this stage to try her on a bottle of expressed milk? (shes ok at latching on) My milk took a little while to come through so I cup fed him formula after every other feed for a few days. I just asked the MW for a feeding cup and they gave me one as they said not to try a teat for 6 wks

Whilst I wasn't producing much milk, the mw said to just keep moving his arms, tickle the pallms of his hands or blow on him to wake him up.

How often is she feeding at the moment? Isaiah goes anything from 1.5 to 3 hrs between feeds, he seems to stock up in the evening but then he manages to go 3hrs in the night

My baby was like this, especially in the mornings, always wanting fed! I always thought it was cos he went longer between feeds at night so he was waking up hungry! I ended up giving him a carton of formula most mornings for a good few wks. (Not as young as your baby though.)

My baby was an hour at a time! Only cutting down to 35 mins at 5 months! Some HV said it shouldn't take that long tho...

Good Q... when expressing it was about 3 mins when it changed from clear to white but dunno if that's the same as baby feeding.

Depends what your storage capacity is I think, this is linked to boob size but not solely based on it! If she is happy with one I would prob just leave it at that. My baby wanted both from an early age so on hungry days I had nothing spare (only got 2 boobs!)

I always gave him as much as I could get out, but having said that it was always below the recommended amount of formula for his age.

They say 10-15 mins on each boob

Unsure, but you want to drain your breast so be sure to start with the last one your baby latched onto/ alternating so that the baby does get that hind milk.

Just average 10-15 mins...you'll get the hang out it the longer you feed your baby and the longer you breast feed

I have read not to introduce a bottle until 4 weeks or when latching is fully successful as the babies get nipple confused. And for some they like a bottle better as they don't have to work as hard. I gave my dd a bottle after 4 weeks but only 1 time a week. She is 2 1/2 months now and takes a bottle every night and still latches on great.

A dummy sounds weird...haha. I am sure she will get the hang of it the more you introduce it.

Refer to your doc how much she should be eating at this age. I think they eat 1-2 oz per feeding. You can always just pump and then give her an oz and see if she gulps it and wants more or doesn't eat all of it. But again, I would wait giving her the bottle unless you exclusively want to feed her that way...

I would...and did with my dd. You want to make sure they eat enough and this will help them sleep and not wake to feed as often.

Best of luck!!! It is so hard right now but trust your motherly instincts and you will get to know how much your baby wants to eat VERY SOON!! I give my dd a bottle at night but breast feed all day long and after her last feed from me I am usually pretty good at guessing about how much in the bottle she will eat. It varies from 1-4 oz. Breastfeeding is not easy and your awesome for keeping it up !!

I give one and he drains that in 10-15mins and i offer the other but he doesnt usually want it, if he does he only has it for a couple of mins

Yes its ok but be aware of nipple confusion and if you miss a feed from the breast you may get engorged

Harry has never taken a dummy, i think if they get used to a bottle teat though they are more likely to take it. Try different shapes/sizes of dummy

I can only get 3/4oz out and he will have that and want more so offer as much as you can and see how much she wants so you know for next time how much to give

If she falls asleeep then she is probably full and content so i wouldnt wake her if i were you. I dont think i would ever wake up harry!!!
