Does abyone else find that they have breathlesness in the first trimester. I am only 7 weeks but get breathless so quick. Is it soething to be concerned about? If it was a serious problem with my lungs surely i would have other symtoms such as wheezing coughing?

God yeah i was breathless whole first tri... into second and still am lol!

Yes! I went to the gym early on in my first tri, a few weeks in (probably around 6 weeks) and I got on the treadmill to do my usual 20 minute run and after 2 minutes i got SOOO breathless and I tried to carry on but stopped after 3 mins because i got so worried!!!! I was gasping for air and my heart was pumpign like CRAZY!!!!!

I went to the gym again after about 3 months yesterday and ran for 10 mins!!!! which is really double what I expected and it was quite easy (on a low setting) although this morning walking slightly uphill to the tube made me feel really breathless again.

dunno why.

I'm like that and just walking up 2 flights of stairs. Forget if I have to carry a heavy load and go up the stairs, I need to take a rest at the top. And usually I'm pretty fit so it's annoying me!

It seems that I get out of breath anytime I try to do anything! Honestly... walking from a store to the car, swiffer moping, making the bed... they all seem to require breaks these days! My shortness of breath also started really early and scared me enough to ask my doctor about it. I thought I was developing asthma or something! She said that it was completely normal and that it was called *insert super technical long word here* and then said, basically it means you're short of breath because you're pregnant. LOL

It can be frustrating sometimes! :hugs:

Oh honey, you'll be ok... honestly it is fairly common :hugs:

I am asthmatic and have been wheezing from the start of this pregnancy (even before I BFP'd - so before 3 weeks and 6 days! ;) ). I have been wheezing morning and before bed EVERY day and have wheezed walking the 5 minutes to the doctors.... Although I am asthamtic, I am also pretty fit (I go to the gym 4/5 times a week): so this is VERY unusual to me. They put me onto a new steroid inhaler, early last week, and I haven't wheezed since.

You could get it checked out by your GP - for some peace of mind - but breathlessness is very common in early pregnancy. I think it is something to do with the hormones: the same ones that relax your muscles also relax your digestive tract (so many women get heartburn etc) and your lungs too (so breathlessness/wheezing).

I had this throughout my first pregnancy and have already started to have with my second. Try not to worry, just take it as easy as you can.

I've also had this, particularly at night when I'm trying to sleep... although I think that could be at least partially psychological because I am worrying about it! I guess from what the others have said it's quite normal... but if it is really worrying you there is no harm in getting checked out xx

I am too! I had this with Lucy too, went to mw and explained and it turned out id developed asthma through pregnancy :(

They said it was likely to happen again so I expect thats what it was. Symptoms were breathless through the day, getting worse at night and a dry, annoying cough at night too.

Me too - with annoying palpitations as well. I think it's just the changes in our circulation and cardiac output. All that extra blood and the hormones relaxing the blood vessels in our bodies. No one tells you these things, do they??

Yep im the same! wheezing allll the time! i just need to walk upstairs and im out of breath! didnt get it with charlie tho!

Thank you so much for all the replies. I feel so much more at ease now thank you. :happydance:
