So in my anxiety riddled head I am now worrying about something that is too late to undo.

My grandmother is in the hospital (for something none contagious) and we went to visit her today. I wanted to go alone and leave our 3 year old and 10 month old at home but my dh insisted we all go. I would have been fine if he had just left our 10 month old in his car seat but he chose to take him out, place him on my grandmothers bed  and sit with her during our visit. Now I'm worried our LO is going to pickup some nasty bug from the hospital!

Has anyone brought their LO to the hospital to visit someone? I feel awful for bringing him and really wish I hadn't. :(

No - but I've been in hospital. Honestly they clean & change things so frequently I wouldn't worry about it tbh. It was a one off & I'm sure your lo will be just fine.

When I was in hospital I was able to go off the ward for my dd to visit - I think most kids have more germs than a hospital bed & I was on a cancer ward (I wasn't treated for cancer btw) where people had very low immune systems - so the worry was more that dd would infect the whole ward with some bug from nursery!!

:hugs: if you're really concerned just check her temp a few times over the next 24 hours :hugs:

I would definitely take a baby to hospital. Aren't most babies born in hospitals...?

Yes, but often the germs that land someone in the hospital are not the kind you want to catch.

Our LO ended up having a fever the night after we took him but he seems fine today so assuming it's related to teething.

I used to take my son to see his grandparents in hospital all the time. They were constantly in and out while he was aged between 1 and 2 and he never seemed to pick im anything up. I know he was slightly older than your Lo but only just

I've brought both my babies to visit my close cousins who have had babies at the hospital. And cousins have brought their babies to visit me when I was in the hospital with my babies. everyone's been fine!

I would be more concerned about a ten month old dishing germs to vulnerable patients than the other way around tbh.

I took my son to see my grandmother around that age. He sat on the bed etc. We thought that might be a goodbye visit, but luckily she rallied.

Thanks for the replies. Guess my germaphobe side is showing through, lol!

Baby was fine, and so is my three year old so no harm done.
