It's not something everyone will understand maybe... but we just stepped out of our pattern/routine for the first time since H set it, at about 3 months old

We went to this little festival nearby, and she had a blast :D

She ate nicely without decorating herself or the surrounding area - and she wasn't too distracted to consume enough to keep her full :happydance:

She wasn't upset by being near the music (which wasn't too loud, but she's a bit funny about noise some times)

She loved the dogs, children, and everyone who said hello.

And she went off to sleep in her pram and was happy enough to stay that way on the outskirts of the party until it got dark and we headed home at 8.30! ;)

Honestly, I've joked about not being out after dark, but really from 4pm-7pm it's play/dinner/bath/bed and I'm good for nothing else ;)

I feel quite liberated  and very proud - she did so well :)

Yay! Go Hazel! :happydance:

We've only done this a couple of times ourselves, but each time these babies surprise us by how well they cope!

ETA: If you have the secret of outdoor pram eating, let me know. I must've cleaned our pram about 200 times by now. How he manages to rub food into it, I'll never know :/

Go Hazel!

I know how you feel about breaking with routine though, even though we really don't have a 'routine' beyond him wanting to go to bed around the same time every night. I have my suspicions that the monkey would handle it pretty well, but I dread being wrong and having to deal with the fallout!

Well done you for being so brave and well done H for being so good!

I'm probaby a bit OTT about sticking to our routine (in fact I know I am) but when we have had to break it Elliott actually survived and did so quite well

I'm really glad you all enjoyed yourself and I hope it gave you the confidence to do it again should the need arise.

:hugs:

ooohh yay!!! thats the thing with routines they are a bugger to break!!!! I am sooo routine driven think thats the only way to retain some kind of sanity with two and havent yet broken the bed time routine - am too scared of them being up all night!!

Brilliant! Sounds like you both coped brilliantly!
Our routine is pretty flexible, as long as tea at 5:30 6ish then sometimes bath, sometimes not, but always bed by 7. Last time we planned to be home about 8 and so changed Ethan before putting him to bed in the car seat but then he still woke when we got him home! Did you just move Hazel from pushchair to car seat then out of car seat into cot and did she just go back to sleep>

Ah well done! It sounds like a lovely day. I always stress like mad when Daisy's routine has to change but to be honest she always seems to cope with it better than I do !

Well the morning update is after a few weeks of crazy growth spurt nights... H only woke once last night ;)

I wondered last night if the fun day and extra excitement might have been enough to throw her into not waking at all  but I feel awesome enough with the more peaceful sleep anyway :D

I wasn't worried about her being upset with it as soon as we were home, but I was blown away that she did everything as normal while we were there and there was no need to get home because she needed something we couldn't do there.

Jenny: We took her travel booster seat / highchair thing which I LOVE - we strapped it to a chair, but I would have been just as happy to put it on the grass or in the boot of the car if she was distracted by the music etc. I got it so we could have lunch with her little friends (Poppy ;)) and to make it easier to have friends over at lunchtime too.

Shame it's the end of the summer and the opportunities for more of the same are limited :/

Yay well done! I can understand completely about routin! We have just got back from camping 2 nights! I was a bit nervous about Belle sleeping with the noise but she was amazing! Slept right through everything! And really enjoyed the experience (there was live music and lots of people) makes me proud of my little girl :cloud9: x

sounds like you all had a fab time, its nice for you to know that it didnt disturb her so you can do it again x x

Can I go against the grain here? I broke the routine last night and boy did I pay for it :coffee:

Well done to Hazel :D xx

Aw :hugs:

I totally expected to have to retreat at some point too - I think it was a mix of time and space and all things going in our favour ;)

What a fantastic night sleep for you both. A perfect end to the day. I am loving H the little festival goer. She'll be needing a pair of these soon https://www.joules.com/en-GB/Girls-Welly/Splodgy/J_JNRWELLYG/ProductDetail.raction

BIG  about the chair. Tea and cake at mine? ;)

Poppy don't go showing me websites like that!!! :dohh:

Honestly - I can't wait til she's big enough for wellies - I've been looking at them for months already ;)
