I am 36 weeks pregnant and few hours ago I have noticed a dark purple spot on the side of my tongue that looks like a broken blood vessel. I called both my MD and my OB/Gyn and was told it could be caused by the increased blood flow during pregnancy and it's nothing to worry about. I also have some swollen vessels in the back of the mouth and my MD said it's spider veins, which is common during pregnancy. My Ob/GYN mentioned that swollen blood vessels or spider veins can happen anywhere in the body, therefore in the mouth as well. Although they said it's not worrisome, I do not know, I feel a little bit concerned about it especially because I've never had anything like that before. Any opinions on this are highly appreciated.
