Hi all

Can anyone tell me when I should start brushing LOs teeth. Her first one poked though last week (about time; she's been teething forever!) but I don't know when I need to start brushing them.

I read somewhere not to start immediately as the tooth is very soft when it first comes through but don't know how true that is.

Any thoughts?

we started right away once her first tooth poked through :)

We occasionally (once a week if i remember) pop a sear of the free toothpaste we got in one of the bounty bags onto her muzzy i was told this was a good way to get them used to the taste :) You might want to do that for a day or 2 first?

We started playing with the toothbrush before they even cut through

I didn't use the toothpaste until recently because she didn't like it.

She also would chew a wet flannel which always made me feel less panicked about getting them brushed clean.

Now 3 months later (with 2 more teeth just cutting) when we get in the bath at bedtime I give her the toothbrush and she mostly does it herself, and is happy when 'mama do'.

now im panicky, Sophies has her bottomr 2 coming through and they are very noticable now and i dont even have a toothbrush for her yet! I must pic one up tomorrow, any special sort of toothpaste i should get?

Here they make toddler toothpastes but if I remember right it's different for the UK

If you don't have a toothbrush you can use a clean wet cloth to wipe the teeth down :)

Yes a flannel works

I'm sure it's debatable whether you need to use toothpaste.
We got a silicone toothbrush which works well :)

Thanks everyone :flower:

We got her toothbrush out this evening (I was ready for the big event!) and she was very interested by it! I'm not sure there was much tooth cleaning but it went into her mouth and she didn't seem to mind!

Ethan had his bottom 2 at 4 months. Just recently his top 2 came through, so I began brushing. Have a diddly little brush and special toothpaste from Boots that's suitable from 0!!! He loves when we go 'brush, brush, brush' after his last bottle! lol.

I've got milk teeth toothpaste from Aquafresh which is suitable from 0-3 years!! And started brushing right away!

Started right away with a baby toothbrush and baby toothpaste. :)
