I've always been told that bubble baths for girls are bad - because they can get yeast infections quite easily. Is this true? Should I just stay away from baths all together?

Not something ive ever heard of....
If you dont want to use soap in the bath you dont need to, plain water works just as well

Thanks - I heard from my sister's friend, who has a little girl - that she couldn't take bubble baths because she kept getting yeast infections from them. I hope it isn't true, I think Laila (my LO) would really like to take one!

My girls have had bubble baths their whole lives and we have never had a problem.
I haven't heard that girls shouldn't have a bubble bath:shrug:

morgan has had bubble baths (asda little angels bath wash poured in with the cold tap blasted over makes loads of bubble)
it could be your sisters friends LO was unlucky enough to get yeast infections often so was told to avoid bubble baths incase they made it worse? just a suggestion

I think the issue is washing inside her nono with bubbles, having a bubble bath - sitting in one wont get water and bubbles up there, but if you actually washed her nono with bubbly water then you'd have issues with infections.
But as we all know are are constantly bombarded by it - we dont wash our nonos with anything but plain water.

My neice always got them when she was little. My sister said it was because of bubble baths. I don't give LO bubbles baths. I wash her with running water, then when I am finished washing her, I fill the tube with water so there are little to no bubbles in them.

Sorry, I think it's rubbish. My daughter has had bubble bath every day since she was born. We never had any problems with it. xx

I found as a kid that certain bubble baths, normally the cheap and nasty ones used to give me yeast infections but if mum used the baby specific ones i was fine! think its just trial and error really, i'm sure most little girls will be fine having regular bubble baths

I think thats the issue with them - there are a lot of cheap bubble baths out there. I've always heard to avoid them with little girls as it can cause yeast infections. Using better bubble bath its less of an issue. Making bubbles with the soap is much different than the cheap bubble baths as well.

I think that's more directed at grown women who are prone to yeast infections. Soap is said to irriate and doctors advise you not to have them. Fine for little ones I should think.

I think you'd probably get more problems with skin irritations from bubble baths everyday than from yeast infections. I suppose if your lo is prone to getting them, then your doctor may tell you to avoid bubble baths, but it's not likely to cause yeast infections in girls that aren't prone to them.

Thanks everyone. The thing is that she's never had a yeast infection before as well as a bubble bath. I gave her regular baths, when she was younger but without bubbles.

Evie always has bubbles in her bath and has never had any problems with yeast infections.. the same went for my eldest

Emma always has bubbles in her bath. :D We haven't ever had any issues.

The advice I've come across was to avoid washing your little girl's hair when she's in the bath, or to leave it till the last minute, because sitting in the shampoo suds could cause vaginal irritation. I've always completely ignored this advice, though, on the grounds that if I don't wash Rowan's hair the moment she's in the bath, she might have a little accident and the entire bath business has to be abandoned, and then she wouldn't get her hair washed at all, when the whole reason why she's in the bath is usually that she's used porridge as a hair styling product. My reasoning is that baby shampoo is formulated to get into your baby's eyes without harm, so what can it possibly do to her muschi?

I disagree that its rubbish. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.
I for one can't have too many buddle baths, the odd one is ok.
But I know plenty girls that have buddle baths every night.

Try it !! If she gets a yeast infection then you know its not for her. Bubbles are so much fun for kids (and adults).

It isnt rubbish, it is true. My mother was told this by a doctor when I was a child as I continually got UTIs and thrush from having baths, so I have to shower as even now it happens.
I think Emma is the same as if she has a bath she always gets Eggy smelling pee - which is a sign of a UTI. But then on the other hand, the shower dries out her skin. Cant win either way

My daughter has a bubble bath all the time. and she is 3,a dn she never has had an yeast infection. I actually think it has more to do with whether your child is prone to them or not, and if they are, they are more than likely to get irritated by the bubble bath than someone who isnt prone to them.
