Hi,
I would be very grateful for any advice. I am 6wks tomorrow and planning on getting married at the beginning of June when I will be 16wks (all being well)

I know that every woman is different, but if you were buying a 'floaty' type long dress to wear at 16 wks and wanted to get a normal dress rather than a maternity dress would you buy 1 size bigger than normal or 2?

I found this dress and was wondering if I could get away with it 1 size bigger than I am normally at 16wks? -

Any advice much appreciated! Thanks :flower:

I would say buy to fit your (.)(.)'s as they will be what will have grown. that will give you the right size, or it should! GL and Congratulations:thumbup:

would it be possible to get the dress nearer the time? i dont really know about sizes because at 16 weeks i wasnt showing but theres others who have a massive bump by then. sorry i cant be much help.
also its a gorgeous dress!

I also didn't have a bump at 16 weeks, but varies quite a lot. Congrats on the wedding.

You may have bloat at 16 weeks though... It is hard to know until closer to the time i think

Like you said all depends on the person as at 16 weeks I didn't have a bump. But other people have a bigger bump at that stage.
Beautiful dress though, I think you could get away with ordering your dress.

I'm 13 weeks atm and I would be able to fit into a normal size 14 dress- I'm barely showing but everyone is different !

I am 14 weeks, 4 days and barely have a bump other than a lot of "bloat" that comes and goes from time to time. With my son, I could wear normal clothes until 5-6 months as long as they were the "looser" clothes because you do get "thicker" even without a proper bump.

Your boobs on the other hand - many times - take on a life of their own and there is no telling what they will fit into. This time I have gone from a 36 C/D to a 38DD across the board! They are growing like crazy!

I would try to wait until closer to the date - at least until you are 12+ weeks - to see how you are growing. If not, you may end up with a dress that doesn't fit.

It is safe to say you won't need a maternity dress at that point!

Congrats...

I think I might go for it as Ive found it on the internet at a much cheaper price and Im sure it will get snapped up if I dont.... I am a bit worried about my boobs as they are quite big anyway....

I just hope it still fits in 10 weeks time! I guess I can always sell it on Ebay if it doesnt fit nearer the time!

Thank you for all your advice and any other comments very welcome x

I got married at 16 weeks, but I was really worried about my dress not fitting come the day as I bought the dress about a week before falling pregnant so had bought my normal size.

My dress fitted perfectly come the day, but I waited till about a week before to see if I would need any alterations done to the dress. the only area that we thought might be a problem in the end was around the chest but it was fine.

it would probably be better to get it too big because its easier to have it taken in sooner the time if you need to. theres only so much they can do if its to small.

I could barely squeeze into my regular pants at 16 weeks (this is my third tho) but, the boobs are definitely what grows too. But, I am not sure if you would want to go up a whole dress size??? I am not sure...try to get the dress as close a possible to the date...otherwise I might say 1 dress size to be safe...but, then that could be too big.

GlasgowAngel - you look beautiful in your dress and you look so slim! Congratulations on your wedding.

I was maid of honour at my sisters wedding 3 weeks ago. I was really worried about the dress situation too! I am usually a uk size 10 but she bought the dress a qite a while before, we decided to go for a size 12 and it was fine. Fitted me round the tummy but still a bit big round the chest area so mum had some emergency stitching the night before. Remember everyone is different though, my (.)(.) are just starting to grow a bit now. Good luck x

That dress is gorgeous! You might be able to get away with your normal size unless ur boobs have gotten much bigger, coz i think a lot of women (but as u say we're all different and bumps can spring up at anytime) start showing more after 18 weeks to the extent they have to change their clothing). Im 14 weeks and wud be surprised if i cudnt fit in my size 10 dresses in 2 weeks time, altho im getting a bump its only sticking out a bit its not at the stage i cant fit in my clothes. but i guess ud probs be safer a size bigger if it doesnt swamp u incase u do get a big bump by 16 weeks.x

My advice would be to buy 1 size bigger than you usually would, that way you can have it taken in at any points that are too big. I know it's not the same, but I had to do this with my wedding dress (when I wasn't pregnant) as my hips are a size bigger than my waist and bust! So, they just took in the top a little bit. The lady in the shop said it's far easier to take in than let out x

its kinda hard to say what to do as you dont no how big you will be by that time maybe try buying closer to the day if it is possibal :hugs: good luck at your wedding and congrats :)

my clothes size hasn't changed, i've actually lost weight, but my boobies have grown!

could you contact the website and see when the latest possible date is that you could order?
then i would check their size guides, they should contain all of their measurements. measure yourself closer to the time if you can.

if not, i'd order it bigger if that's what you think is best - always remember that you can get the dress altered. from working in a boutique i can tell you now that it's always possible to get a dress made smaller, but never to get it made bigger, so better to be safe than sorry!!

love the dress by the way! :)

I could wear my normal clothes until I was about 22 weeks xx
