Hiya

LO sleeps in a crib in our room. Ive read that you shouldnt put a bumper on a crib when the baby is very young as it may come off and LO might get tangled.
i dont have a bumper on at the moment but my LO moves around alot and seems to bump his head on the side of the cot.
Im considering putting a bumper on.
What would you do?
Thanks

The bumper would only come off its not tied down properly , Ive had the bumper in my sons crib weaved at the corners so there was no space ..and he still has it now at 10 months cause he got his leg stuck between the bars once :(

I'm thinking of getting some cot bumpers too. I agree that as long as they're tied on really securely they should be ok.

Lewis keeps using the bars to push his feet against and move around the cot, 3 times he's woken us in the night crying because he got his foot stuck and most mornings he's lying horizantally not vertically.:dohh:

If he carried on he could end up twisting/breaking something.

Thats the exact thing that happened to my son he twisted his lil foot and was sore for 2 weeks ..

We've put ours up because Kathryn kept squirming around in the crib bumping her head and getting limbs stuck between the bars. We just tied them really really tight, she sleeps much better now that she's not banging her head and getting stuck.

Jack has had his on his cot since he was 2 months old... aslong as it is tied it is fine imo..

Harry has been in his cot for the past 2 weeks and i've put the cot bumpers on. Tied really tight and tucked right down the side of the mattress. I don't think Harry is quite capable of making much of a journey around the cot at the moment as he's still very little, but I'd rather be safe than sorry - wouldn't want him banging his head or getting his arms stuck.

I've never had cot bumpers for any of my kids. When they are tiny, they can stop the air circulation and make the baby overheat. And when they get older, they can get tangled in them. I just personally think they are only made to make the cot look pretty.

Bumpers are suppose to be put on once the baby can crawl or squirm and get their legs/arms inbetween the crib. Hunter got his leg in the crib once and twisted it around, then we put on his Bumpers. They shouldn't come off if they are tied properly. They never did for us.

We've had bumpers on Tom's cot since we first had it and had no problems whatsoever :)

Iv got bumpers on my cot and if they are tied tight and properly i dont see a problem. I check them all the time and re-tie them.
