I have my section tomorrow at 8am and I'm so scared has anyone got any tips or things that might help me get tru this easier and help with recovery quicker xxx. Thanks x

Big knickers, and taking pain meds as often as they offer them? I wish I had more advice! I'm on day 17 now and still recovering.

Enjoy. I had two and they were fine.

One thing i didn't expect but that happened was that I got the shakes on the operating table. The anesthetist told me it was all normal - drugs plus adrenalin. I was shaking like a jelly and couldn't stop for a while.so if you start then don't worry, it is normal :)

I took arnica (homeopathic) with my first section and think I will again, it is meant to speed up healing. Maybe ask someone to get you some. Mine were little tiny balls I had To swallow. No side effects, just herbal.

I agree, big big pants. And get up and showered as soon as they allow since that made me feel so much better.

And most of all enjoy, it is so exciting laying there knowing you will meet your baby so soon!

Oh, and hope for a dishy anesthetist! when I had mine the anesthetist was rather attractive, and with the second section he asked me to lay on my side and curl into a ball (ith the first i was just sat up leaning forward) so he could put the needle in my back. I was naked at the back (back opening gown) and i spent the whole injection thinking "oh no! He can see my big naked curled up backside, and lord kows what else, this is so embarrassing!" In fact it really helped take my mind off the needle! Lol.
The injection wasn't too bad a all. Just felt like pressure.
You will do fine.

Enjoy! Xx

Have some nice comfy pj bottoms which sit high on the waist. Also going home clothes that don't constrict you where your incision will be. I honestly found the whole process pretty pain free and felt no need for the pain killers after a week or so. I did a day at work yesterday (3 weeks post section) and my scar is healing well and looks very neat. I had referred shoulder pain which scared me a little but it is Apparently quite normal and it only lasted a couple of days. Just make sure that you set things up at home to make things easy for you when you get home- have your changing mat at a height which means you're not having to bend to change baby etc. Also if you have the opportunity to recuperate for a couple of nights at a local mlu I would definitely do that. Don't rush home from hospital if they are caring for you well as little things such as having an electric bed to help you get in and out makes a big difference.

Be prepared so that you don't get too scared. You will probably get the shakes.. those things are powerful but harmless. You may feel very sick on the table... tell the anesthesiologist and they can fix you very quickly... as in a few seconds. It's crazy how well that works. It's going to feel strange having your whole body go numb... and you may feel odd in your arms because of it.. completely normal but if you ask the anesthesiologist they will reassure you. Remember they do this all of the time so try to enjoy it. It takes such little time to get the baby out.. once the LO is here just try to focus on them. Congratulations to you!
