I wasn't really worried about the fact that babies' initials were going to be CAB but it was the first thing my family commented on when I told them her name which upset me and worried me a little, will people notice that her initials are that of a taxi?
I'm still in two minds as to wether I want to give her two middle names, which I would only do to change her initials from CAB to CAYB.

I don't know too many people who look that far into initials. Honestly I think it's rude that it was one of the first comments your family gave on baby's name. My initials were ADD before I got married, it got a few giggle comments but nothing that bothered me growing up.

Middle names and initials aren't really used so it's not going to be that noticeable.

Our eldest first & last initials are XL! We didn't realise until after we'd named him but I doubt it would have changed our name choice even if we had!

It's not like a taxi is a bad thing. If it spelled POO or KNOB I could understand. I imagine lots of people who have middle names beginning with vowels (which are super popular) have initials which spell random words.

if its ASS or TIT or FUK maybe but why would CAB be bad... Cab is a name in itself, like Cab Calloway

It wasn't initially ME who thought CAB was a problem, it's just when the first thing my family could say about the name was that her initials were CAB.
Thanks to the ladies who gave kind responses.

I don't see a problem with it! My friends initials were STD until she got married!

Oof that's rough! I went to school with a girl with the initials LSD too lol

To the OP - I'd only avoid it if it spelled FUK or something along those lines. Who cares if it's CAB? There is no teasing potential with a taxi cab, is there?

I don't see it as an issue. My lo's initials are JAB and although it's been pointed out, it's not a bad word or anything so

I once knew someone whose initials spelt VAG. THAT'S when you should worry!

I mean anything can be turned bad somehow, your worst ones if any would be

'shes been ridden more times than a taxi cab'
or
'how much for a ride'

but most people I know have never been bullied for initials, If you dont tell people they dont even know your middle name normally

+ I got bullied at school for mine and they dont even spell anything lol I just happened to have the same initials as a newly popular children's writer and no one could ever of predicted that

I really dont think it will cause much problems

My LOs spell SAW, no big deal. Growing up I was ADA (In the US, American Dental Association, American Disability Act, etc....) Now I am ADW (crime of Assault with Deadly Weapon...)....hehe

I wouldn't worry about it. The 'joke' will soon get old. They'll probably say it once and never mention it again.
Middle names are only really used by choice.

I'd associate it with the citizen's advice bureau, but I would probably think it once, then forget about it. I don't know anyone who's been bullied for initials.

I wouldn't worry! My son's name (on birth certificate) is JLS but I loved the name so much I decided not to care!

My initials are BPA (like the bad stuff they used to use in plastics) but I didn't even realize that until I read your post. So in other words, no it's not a big deal! Also shame on your family for making you think otherwise!

When she starts elementary school and students have to find someone in the class whose initials spell out a word, she'll be the one everyone goes to. I say go for it!
