Okaaay, well i'm finally sitting down to write this now! Yay.
I was due to be induced at 9.00p.m on sunday the 26th, but didnt quite get that far!
Well it all started on friday night, me and my OH and mum were on our way to tescos and i started having contractions, at the time i had no idea they were contractions and i kept saying to my mum 'he keeps sitting on someone he shouldnt be and it really hurts' lol Anyway so we were walking round tescos and i had a couple more about 10 mins apart, my mum said "Tone i bet its early labour'' I thought no way cos it really wasnt what i expected the contractions to feel like! They were much much sharper than i thought!
So they carried on like this for a couple more hours but i got home fell asleep, woke up and NOTHING!
So saturday morning i decided to go for a long walk around the fields to try and kick things up a notch, got my friend on my horse and walked around the biggest field you can imagine with them, trying to keep up was an effort in itself! I thought after a massive walk something would happen but no.
So a few hours later i was sitting at the computor and i had a contraction, a big one! And then after that they kept coming every 15 mins or so, and they hurt alot more than the ones in tescos!! So i ran a bath and took two paracetamol as my midwife had said to do, and the pain didnt go!
I was still in denial i was in labor. My mum said i should time them again because they seemed to be coming very fast so i was timing them and they were 3-4 mins apart lasting around 40 seconds. They were also getting much more painful. So i came on BnB and wrote a thread saying i thought i was in labor and said how long they were etc. I got so many replies saying i should ring the labor ward. (Thank you ladies
) now me being me i was like nooo ill wait a bit longer but my mum had seen the thread and was ringing the labor ward before i had a chance to say no! the midwife said if i could handle the pain at the moment to wait a bit longer, if it got much worse to come in.
So i tried to go upstairs and sleep..! As soon as a lay down the pain got SO MUCH WORSE! I jumped up and was like okaaaay were going now!!
All the way in the car to the hospital i was in agony! Finally we got there around 12am and i was the only person in, so i had lots of attention! I was put on the machine to get babies heartbeat etc and all was fine, so she checked how dilated i was............2cm! WHAT!!!! I couldnt believe it! All this pain and nothing was even happening! Grr! So she gave me a tens machine to use which really didnt do much but it took my mind of the pain, if anyone tried taking it off me i would scream lol, and left me for about an hour. When she came back i was begging for some pain relief so she said she would check how dilated i was to see i could have some pethedine. 4cm...yay!! so i was allowed some pethedine! after that i felt a bit better it didnt help the pain just let me doze in between contractions and made me nice and high!!
it didnt last long, only about an hour and then i was back to a HUGE amount of pain! I thought it hurt earlier, but this pain was insane! I was screaming by this point for an epidural and doing some manic breathing, the midwife said she would go and get the anethitist (sp) (little did i know, she wasnt getting him at all and she was just humouring me! i wasnt getting an epi at all) if i would have known that at the time i would have swung for her!! she checked me after that and i was 8cm.....thats why i wasnt getting the epi!! i went from 4cm to 8cm soooo quickly!! I had literally 2 contractions after that i then said i had 2 push! "Thats what i wanted to hear" the midwife said. So i started pushing with all my might and 13 minutes later little Callum was born, at 6.18am sunday morning weighing 8lbs 3oz!!! and i only had the pethedine at the beggining of the labor and nothing for the rest or for the pushing, i was so proud of myself!
she put him straight on me and i started crying, my OH just got up and left the room. i didnt know where he had gone. hecame back in 2 minutes later completley white and unable to speak! He was in complete shock! I couldnt believe my little man was finally here! He's absolutley perfect! he looks just like his daddy (poor thing)!!
After that i had the injection for the placenta to come out and had a few stiches in my labia because that had somehow torn (?)
So thats my story sorry its so long! I hope i didnt miss anything out!!
