Someone suggested this to me today? Never heard of giving baby calpol for colic tho....gripe water doesnt seem to be working for my littly tho

Calpol is 2m+, people give it in hopes it will ease the childs pain. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Up to you if you wanna give it a try :) x

Hmmm. I am unsure about this. Yes, it may ease some discomfort but unlike having an episode of colicky pain which in its infrequency could be medicated, actual colic is something that sadly takes some time to grow out of. The dangers would be the baby getting Calpol over many days/weeks. I would discuss this with your GP.

Cal pol is just paracetamol. You wouldn't take paracetamol yourself for griping pains so definitely don't give it to your baby. I know someone else has told you to do this but it's my biggest pet hate. I work in a chemist and ppl just want to give their children calpol for anything and it's really not appropriate x

There was a thing in all the news about parents giving children more calpol than they should be having and that paracetamol is more dangerous than people think - I personally wouldn't risk it although if they were clearly in a large amount of pain I might give it then to ease it on the very odd occasion - It definitely would just cure colic though :/ x

Tommy had/has colic and calpol definitely doesn't make a difference.

I didn't think it would really...wasn't going to try it, however much I want to make his discomfort go!...Don't even take pain killers myself, totally anti drugs so wouldn't plaster my baby up with it easily...didn't know it was 2m+, havent had the need to use it....any other colic relief ideas ladies? tried infacol, dentinox and gripe water...not sure if it works, should it work right away?

I used infacol it was no miracle worker it didn't get rid of it but it did make it a little less uncomfortable for him after a little while of using it and he eventually grew out of it. The best things I found helped my LO was winding him more..Lying him tummy down on my knee and rocking him from side to side and sometimes a warm bath x

Colief helps digest the milk and can help some babies with colic. Sounds like you've tried everything else though :-(

Try the 'hanging tiger' position for some relief. Its a way of holding baby that calms them if they have colic , cant describe how to do it but it works on my LO and saw it shown as a video on youtube.

How long did you use infacol for? You need to use it every feed for a few days before it starts to work. And I always found with gripe water he had to have another drink and give it 5ish minutes for the big burp.

Colief is popular, quite expensive but you might be able to get it from your GP

I definitely wouldn't give my lo calpol for colic, he suffered very badly with it. I tried gripe water, infacol and dentinox! The thing that worked in the end was changing his milk to cow and gate comfort- it got rid of his colic and constipation. Good luck x

i use colic calm...... and it is fab expensive but a little goes a long way and makes LO so much happier
