Hi ladies my baby is 9weeks old nearly 10. hes got a terrible cold where hes struggling to breath bless him.. im dreading tonight as we all know stuffy noses are worse in the night.
Anyways i really dont want to use saline drops on him as the doctor told me to try other things first as they arnt really nice for the baby. he suggested baby olbas oil and snufflebabe but snuffle babe and olbas oil are to be used from 3months... so my baby is 2weeks under that.so im wondering if it would hurt him if o used a little bit of snufflebabe on his chest?

I must admit I did use it on Emilia when she was about 10 weeks but only a tiny amount.

I used Olbas oil on a damp flannel in the room, that helped clear her nose. We also found she hated snuffle babe on the chest so put a tiny bit on her feet and then put her in a baby gro.

Will be interesting to see what others say.

I cant see it doing any harm...especially as your doctor has suggested it. I may be wrong tho :flower:

Cant see it being bad really, theres no magic switch at 12 weeks that makes these things work or suit baby better.

Reckon if doc's suggested them then go for it, wee bit on the chest and rub into bottoms of feet. Olbas oil on cloths in the room, close but not anywhere lo can touch it.
Thats what we do for our lo if she is snuffly and has always worked well for nights. Hope wee one'c cold clears soon its awful when they are so small!
:hugs:

Maybe you could just put it on her sleeping bag/sleepsuit...so you dont have to put it directly on her skin! I cant see it harming her if you did though! Also put a bit in some hot water near where lo sleeps, that always helped my lo.

We use it on as scratch mitt on a coat/ towel hook thing near her bed so it permeates her room without it being on her-she touches everything!! U can also get plug ins with decongestion stuff in them-ask at your local chemist and they should be able to help. Re the age thing, I doubt it will do any harm, especially as ur doctor recommended it. X

I used it before 12 weeks, my babies fine, I put it on his sleepsuit at night

I don't know what snufflebabe is, but I used regular Vicks with Sophie as a small baby when she had a stuffy nose. Love the smell!

Just as a by-the-way, 12 weeks isn't 3 months, 13 weeks is.

I'm not sure what snufflebabe is either but can you use the saline type spray? Maybe it's the same thing. My lo had a stinking cold at 11 weeks and I used a nasal aspiratior to clear his nose, he screamed of course but it worked perfectly! It's amazing what comes out of a tiny nose :haha: plus I always find with myself that if I use anything like that it just pushes the cold down into their chest x

I used it on a muslin and hung it on the side and of the cot whe my baby was about 3 weeks old hasn't done him any harm xx

we use both vicks and saline.

Connor has had sinus issues since a newborn, he always gets a congested nose, I found if i spray his nose with the saline, rub a tiny drop of vicks on his chest then give him his bedtime bottle he soon forgets i did the saline and he hasnt woke up congested for a while!

whereas if i did just one or the other hed still wake during the night congested after an hour or so of being put down. so clearing out his nose first seems to really help!
