Hi, I posted this query on behalf of a friend who is not a bnb'er (in the baby club forum) and got practically no replies. Embarrassing as I'd told my friend 'oh I'll post for you on bnb you'll get a variety of opinions and viewpoints and bnb is fab...

So, here goes again.... My friend's lo is just turned 6 months and has been traditionally weaned. He is really enjoying his food. However she is concerned because sometimes he eats too much and he's sick. So she wants to know whether it's possible for a baby to overeat or should she limit his intake? When she feeds him he bangs his hand on the highchair to demand more food and gets upset if she does not feed him really fast

Hey there. My lo loves loves loves food. She is just like her daddy. She eats and eats and just when I think she is done and I take the tray away she finds food in her bib or alongside chair and eats it all! She poos sometimes 6 times a day and is 10 months! She has had this appetite since starting solids at 6 months! I asked my doctor last week if I should limit the food and he said absolutely not. Offer offer offer and as long as its healthy food keep offering. My lo is also incredibly active - people tell me this all the time so I guess she needs it! She also breast feeds twice a day and takes 2 bottles of formula ( various amounts, 3-6 ounces each).

So that is what I was told. My lo despite her intake is in the 35th percentile! I am still amazed at the amount of food she puts back! Don't know if it makes a difference, but we have never spoon fed, she has fed herself since 6 months when she started soilds.
