Can a 'happy chuckers' reflux be made worse by allergies?

Alex has been a real happy chucker since birth. He is a real happy little thing, and it doesn't seem to bother him (my carpets, clothes, furniture etc tell a different story :haha:). I thought it was just one of those things he would outgrow, but now I'm starting to wonder if his reflux could be allergy related? Has anyone heard of a happy chucker showing allergies through the amount they are sick.

The reason I ask is I went 10 days where Alex hardly threw up at all and I was thinking :happydance: he's growing out of it. Then I had some fish sticks last wed and suddenly he went back to being super sick again. It dawned on me I had been having fishsticks loads (I was on a diet and they are low cal no fat snack) but probably stopped around the same time he stopped being sick. I immediately stopped eating them and will introduce them again in a couple of weeks. The sickness died down but now we're on another sicky day. Wondering if he could be allergic to something else I'm eating too or is it just coincidence.

I should say DH has multiple bad allergies including fish (and peanuts, most tree nuts, pulses, apples, horse hair, dustmites, cats, dogs, most pollens the list goes on), so I know my children have higher chance of developing allergies.

It just never crossed my mind the reflux could be allergy related as Alex has never shown an discomfort from it. Does anyone have any experience of a happy chucker which ended being allergy related?

eta - we're exclusively bf'ing if that makes any difference to replies.

My lo was a happy chucker and it seemed to get better when he was eating three meals a day around 8ish months. I honestly thought it would never ever stop and in all his pictures he has bibs on! When I was expecting number 2 I stocked up on bibs big time just expecting her to be the same as her brother....can you imagine the joy when she's wasn't sick at all.

In relation to uour question about whether it seemed to be related ro certain food I can't really answer that as my son was formula fed from 2 weeks onwards. X

My daughter is allergic to cows milk protein. Her reflux was terrible when she was younger. Reflux is a classic sign of milk allergy. My daughter was intolerant to soya, tomatoes, bananas, mangos, beef and pork. Thankfully she has now grown out of these apart from milk protein, soya in yogurt or milk form and bananas. Her reflux went away for a few months so we stopped her medication but now I'm trying to introduce milk slowly her reflux is slowly coming back :(

Mine was never hugely sicky BUT she would go through stages where she would seem to be stopping and then would spit up more. It always coincided with the beginnings of a tooth. Is he dribbling or chewing?

Did the reflux seem to bother her? I know a couple of babies who have CMPA who both had reflux but they were clearly uncomfortable, cried lots, had funny poos etc. Alex only has the reflux and is a super happy baby - I'm wondering if it can be possible to have CMPA (or any other allergy) and be so happy with it? x

He broke his first tooth 10 days ago (randomly a canine - vampire baby:haha:) but this was during the period where he was hardly being sick so guessing the two aren't connected for him. Thanks for the suggestion though
