today I was riding in a car with my MIL when she had to suddenly slam on the breaks to prevent hitting another car. The car jerked a little and the seatbelt tightened low against the bottom of my stomach. I'm wondering if the seatbelt tightening suddenly could cause any damage??? I hope u guys understand what I'm talking about thanks for any advice

At my last doctors appointment I was told to make sure that when I am in the care the seatbelt is low around my hip, sort of under the bump so that in case there is a need to stop suddenly the pressure is not right on your bump/stomach

the baby is protected by heaps of fluid so it shuld b fine.. in saying that tho.. i had that happen with my last child and it put me into a nine week early labour.... my daughter was fine tho and no effects from the accident.. my body just went into shock a little.. if u start having craping or spotting and ur worried about it.. go c ur doctor and c wat they say.. try not to stress tho.. they are more resiliant than we culd ever think and can endure alot in there

Although you make a valid point I just think the possibility of a bad accident and you getting thrown through the windsheild and ejected from the car would probably be a lot worse?? So try not to worry and keep wearing it

Should be fine but I would get checked to make sure. I bought a special "bump belt" from Halfords (also can get on the Internet) for £20 which holds the seatbelt across your hips/lap. Obviously it doesn't help you for what's happened but might give you reassurance for next time.

I had a similar experience on a driivng lesson around 15\16 weeks too and although I felt awful and worried something had happened to bubs she's absolutely fine, long as you wear your seatbelt low under your bump and not over it there shouldnt be any damage at all xx

If it makes you feel better, even pregnant women are asked to do the emergency stop on their driving test xx Just keep the belt under your bump xx

My auntie had something like this happening to her, the car in front of her stopped so suddenly that she went into the back of him. She was about 7 months at the time but she was completely fine, i think as long as there is no bruising or pain or spotting then you should be okay :) xxxx

Thanks for all the answers.
I'm just paranoid.
All is fine, did the doppler this morning and the h/b is still strong.
