I have a Uni place for Sept, my 1st year is a foundation year and then I will do nursing. The uni I have got into is 13 miles from home and I don't drive so would mean dropping kids to before school club by bus, getting bus into town to get a tram to the uni. The kids would also need to go after school club as well and my oldest I'm not sure as there isnt an after school club at her school, I then have the holidays to think about. I dont have any support from their dad as he lives miles away from us and has his own life, my mum has just had a major op so couldn't expect them to help out. I'm not sure what to do for the best it's always been my dream to be a nurse but am I going to struggle with everything?
I have a uni which is nearer but they don't do the course with a foundation year.
Is anybody a single mum at uni or a nurse is it do able with kids?

Thanks in advance x

have you thought about getting a chikdminder instead of the school clubs?

Think I will look into it thanks for replying will they take my 12 year old as well? x

Hi hun. I'm not sure if you remember but I'm a nurse. I work full time and cope perfectly well. James goes to a childminder and if I am not home in time to pick him up then either my mum or my nan does. Childminders are far more flexible than other options. And they will also take older children after school (mine has several after school children). Good luck with it all and PM me if you want any other questions answered x

Thanks hun for your advice I'm going to look for a childminder in my area, I know there is a few at the kids school so may ask them as well. Do you find it hard with the shifts to juggle everything? x

Sometimes. Mostly on nights. But I'm lucky that I have my mum and sister within a mile of me so they are incredibly helpful. Like atm I'm on the 3rd of 4 nights and struggling. James is fine....but I hate it!

Good I'm glad. You will do great I'm sure. Just bear in mind that you can get help from uni!
