Can anyone check my latch please?

My daughter is 6 days old and I've been told that her latch is very important for sufficient milk supply. No one has actually checked my latch and told me it is ok they've just told me to get as much as my boob into her mouth.

I feel I do struggle a bit as her mouth is quite small and my nipple is so big. When I compare my nipple size to other people's it's atleast twice the size. So I do wonder if she's latched correctly.

Is too large apparently so I've added a photo but I don't know if you can assess the latch with a photo only. I could send the video to someone if required. Could anyone tell me if it is correct please or if there is anything I should be changing?

She looks okay. ..mouth wide open chin tucked in etc. Hard to trek with photo.is she feeding okay? I'd she settled. Is it not painful to feed after the initial latch.

It looks good to me in that her lips are nice and fanned out top and bottom, not pursed or anything.

I was told the best way to check is to look at the shape of your nipple right after she unlatches. If it's round, you're good. If it's smushed looking or lipstick shaped, it means she's not latching fully. That's because with a good latch the nipple gets pulled all the way back to the soft palate at the back of the roof of baby's mouth. But with a poor latch it won't go in as far and will be hitting the hard palate instead, which will smoosh it out of shape and cause damage over time.

I was also told that it can be uncomfortable or hurt for the first 10-15 seconds after latching, if it still hurts after that then there might be a problem.

It looks good to me, but the big question is, are you comfortable? If it hurts then it's a bad latch. Only thing I'd do is fix her upper lip up a bit more so she gets that big fish mouth latch.
