I need a good book. I love Ghost stories.... never seem to be able to find one. Halloween on the way and I want to be able to snuggle down at night with my book while the hubby plays on his Xbox *yawn* and the little one is in bed.
Any other books that you highly recommend are welcome too :)

Although they are childrens stories, Neil Gaiman can write some spooky stuff. I have a book of short stories by him. All of them horror based!
He wrote Coraline!

Oooh I'll have a look. I used to read all the Goosebumps and Point Horror books when I was young... haven't been able to find a good horror since. Stephen King is good but he's more weird than scary I think.

Dean Koontz is a good author for Horror stories as is John Saul.

I second Dean Koontz - Whispers is my fav

Also James Herbert - Rats trilogy (The Rats, Lair & Domain)

Funnily enough I went shopping today and there was a buy one get one half price offer on at Waterstones so I bought
James Herbert - The Secret of Crickley Hall
And
Dean Koontz - 77 Shadow Street

Lets hope they're good ;)

I need to get myself a good book for halloween at the minute im reading The witches by Roald dalh to my LO at bed times, I've suprisingly never read it before and it's a great childs book so that might be a good one to read your LO, i do need ideas for myself though lol.

Get any Joe Hill books! He is Stephen Kings son and i think he is better than King!

Aww The Witches has been one of my favourites since I was a child. I had the film on VHS and everything!! If you like the book watch the film :)
And Kool thank you, I'll look into him also x

There are different documents throughout the book which gets a bit confusing, you really have to concentrate when reading it but it is SO scary so it's worth it!

Ooooh i found £50 worth of waterstones vouchers the other day think that will go on my list!

Definitely recommended!

Trying to think of other horrors! Stephen king is always good for scary stories, I love Misery, pet semetary and the stand. Chocky by John wyndham is quite creepy.

John Saul's Blackstone Chronicles was great! It would be perfect for Halloween reading. :D

Get a book with short stories by HP lovecraft :)

Oh and I know it's a kids book but scary stories to tell in the dark fucked me up as a child, but you have to get an old edition with the terrifying illustrations!
