After trying to go cold turkey with Maggie and her dummy I've decided that's not the route I want to take with her she wound herself up so much she was histerical so I've decided to let her have the dummy and teach her to find it in the night so any hints or tips on how to encourage her to pop it back in would very much be appreciated OR If anyone can recommend a good holder pls let me know.

Only constructive help pls!! Thank you xxx

how about sewing one onto a teddy? like a rabbit ear or something

let her practice in the day, its bigger to find in the cot than a dummy and wont fall between the cot bars either

x

We throw several dummies in the cot, she eventually got the hang of it.

We used to use a mam clip cord and attach it to his sleeping bag shoulder, so it was only long enough to reach his mouth and not any further.

i still do this now :lol:and he does find it , but omg i soo remember getting up every 10min finding the dummy :?

we used to do what we called "dummy dumping" lmao.
we'd take a good handful, say 8 or 9 dummy's and scatter them around the cot.
however we do seem to have an excessive amount of dummy's.

I didn't know you could get a holder? To keep it in her mouth?

I do like that idea about sewing it onto a teddy or a blankey. Because usually if they use those for comfort they are always near them.

K only likes certain dummys - which they stopped making, so we cant throw loads in her cot, she has a dummy clip from home bargains, and its short so only reaches her mouth, she has had it since 8ish months old -not the same one - we have loads :) and we have never had a prob at nighttimes - plus its not got beads on or anything small tht culd harm her, its jus plain plastic attachment and ribbon - also has a safety thing on so she cud never strangle herself - it wud come apart xxxx

I'm getting one of these, the dummy runs drive me insane!!!

HI ginab,

We found this great product called "Sleep Tight Genius" that helped us a lot with both our kids and their sleep time dummy habits. Since we started using it they never lost it and stopped throwing it out of the cot and if they woke up in the middle of the night they knew exactly where to find their dummy and just went back to sleep...
good luck
D
