Can FOB request access or DNA testing before LO is born?

Hi everyone!!

Quick update from me and then I'll ask the question.

FOB left me 13 weeks,
threatened joint custody at 16 weeks, has asked me 5 times if the baby is his and says he will demand a DNA test.
(he's doing this to be hurtful. A. I have fertility problems B. Baby had been planned for a long time and we were "happily" engaged".
Had a scan at 21 weeks, text and told him we're having a boy and had a row, i said i'd saw a pathetic comment he wrote about fathers righrs on Facebook and wished him luck - he said he'd portray me as unfit and get the baby. That was 4 months ago he hasn't been in contact since.
We worked at the same place though rarely saw each other when we did we'd just stare neutrally at each other - I left work for mat leave and apparently he left 3 days later for another job. (such a relief - I can go back partime and not see his ugly face!!) He also got a gf 6 weeks after he ditched me and removed and fell out with all our mutual friends face to face and via Facebook!
Oh and his family has bought him a house near my house.... Grrr! I don't believe he knows what I'm gonna do. I'm usually mere hearted and very fair but I did text him saying, "you will see a different me and it will shock you"

Anyways sorry for the rant and update.... Lol

My question is:
Can he and his solicitor request a DNA test/and access to the baby before he is born?

I have received a Special Delivery note yesterday to pick up a letter from the office (I was out when it came)
My friends think it's FOB getting the ball rolling. I think he knows that I am not putting him on the birth cert so he'll have to do a DNA test anyway to get on there and then apply for visitation rights (I know he won't be happy with what I'll offer.)
It is his baby and I know he will get on the BC - he'll just have to do it the long way! He hadn't paid a penny for LO so far!!! I want to delay things as long as I can. So I've decided I'm not signing for any special delivery or recorded mail.

I was expecting to get letters after LO was born - this letter could be from someone else and I'm getting my knickers in a twist but I'm not expecting anything. But then FOB doesn't know anything about me so for
all he knows LO could be here!!

So yeah my question.... If I have deviated or been unclear is:

Can he go to a solicitor now - before LO is born and serve me a request for DNA testing or visitation rights?

I'm so intrigued as to what this letter is but being advised not to get it as it'll be him.

Hi:)
Sorry your ex is so horrible! It's mad how we only see this side of them once we get pregnant. Their childish little boys, not men! :haha:
Anyway, I have a friend who's lovely as a person, but since his (now ex) got pregnant he's become horrible and like your ex. It's safe to say were no longer friends. His ex has now had the baby, but apparently he told me he went to the solicitors when she was 20 weeks pregnant, then again when she was 30+ weeks pregnant but was told by the solicitor that nothing could be done as the baby wasn't here yet therefore you can't apply for visitation or DNA on an unborn child. The child is now a year old, but he went to the solicitors when the child was born and wasn't allowed to apply for DNA or visitation until the child was about three months old. This seems to be the norm from what I've read. Apparently all the FOB can do is send you a letter with what visitation etc he would like and what his plans are (it's likely this would be recorded delivery, to prove you've received it) but that's all that happens.
Everything I've said is information I've got from my friends experience (as a man in that situation) and my own experience (as a mother with my own baby and FOB) inbox me if you'd like any more information, as I don't really like saying much on public forums.
I hope it helps and things get sorted, your due pretty soon so I hope you have a nice and relaxed last few weeks:hugs:

as far as i'm concerned, solicitors will give advicee on the access/dna situation, but won't do anything about it until the baby is actually here x

Getting a DNA test before they are born can risk miscarriage, he will NOT be able to do that in any country as far as I know!

Edit : Mine left at 9 weeks and we were happily engaged too, AND it was planned! I'm now 17 weeks. I definitely know what you're going through and am doing the exact same thing! Until I see a DAD on my door step he gets a closed door!
