Can having a pap exam done be hazardous when TTC?

So I've never really thought about it, but I got a reminder from my doctor to schedule a pap smear and it suddenly made me wonder whether having an exam like that done could cause problems with a potential pregnancy while TTC?

Does anyone know or have any experience with this?

Thanks :flower:

It shouldn't have any effect. I had mine done less then a month before I conceived. Which was awesome because it meant I didn't have to have one at my six week post patrum checkup.

I had one done when I was already pregnant at 13dpo. They are commonly done in early pregnancy with no issues!

A pap isn't going to be any more invasive than doing your own internal check for CP & CM, which many women continue to do in early pregnancy.

I thought it was routine to have one done at your first prenatal aappointment anyway so I dont think it would affect TTC but it certainly never hurts to ask

I think doing the deed is more invasive :)

Think it's just after giving birth you have to leave it 6 months as you can get false results
