It's my LO's first settling-in session with the childminder right now and I left her happily playing away on the mat. The childminders house practically backs on to ours and I was just cleaning the bathroom so opened the window and I could hear my baby crying her little heart out (childminder's obviously walking her round the garden or something).

I'm off to pick her up in 20 mins as I've just left her for 90 mins today and I'm wondering if the childminder will say she was fine so as not to panic me. If she does, should I say I heard her crying or just leave it. I feel sick. God, what shall I do? I'm back at work on 13th Sept and LO has a couple more settling-in sessions next week.

it's heartbreaking, I feel like I'm dying inside!!! :cry::cry:

She's a baby, she just doesn't understand yet. The more you leave her the more confidence in you she'll have as she'll know you're coming back :hugs: That must be so hard!

i would say about the crying and casually ask what it was about etc. X

Oh Hun :hugs: Its horrible when they do start settling in but it wont last forever. She will soon get used to the new environment and she will be just fine.

It would be right for the childminder to tell you that she was tearful and that she had a bit of a crying phase but that could mean many things, maybe she was tired and she wanted a nap but is used to you putting her down. Or anything really..

Aw, I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you. I hate hearing my lo crying even if I know she's only upstairs being changed or something by my husband!

If it was me, as soon as the childminder answers the door I'd say (really casually and light hearted) 'oh how was she, I heard her having a little cry, hope she wasn't too much of a madam' something like that. Just so she knows you heard but aren't blaming her if you know what I mean.

Xxx

Oh sweety its soooo hard isnt it. I stood in the hallway outside the room that H was in on her first settling in period at nursery and she was crying. They just do - they realise you're not there and its a bit frightening but the more they get used to their new surroundings the happier they get.

Its my second day of leaving her for work (she does nursery two days and is at granny's today) and its tough but not as tough as you think (and I thought everyone was just saying that to make me feel better but its true :) ).

She will be fine soon honey - this is the toughest bit.

HUUUUUGE hugs to you. :hugs:

PS I love your avatar - she's adorable.

I expect she is crying cause she is away from her mummy for the 1st time. Kacey gets like this but soon settles. They are both new to each other. But do what feels right. ask her if you want to

Thanks so much ladies :hugs:

I just went to pick her up and when I asked how shewas, the childminder said straight away that she'd had a little cry but that after 5 minutes (and a rice cake :winkwink:) she was ok and laughing again. I still feel poo but a little better knowing that she cheered up and wasn't miserable the whole time. And I'm SO gladthe childminder told me without me having to say anything.

:flower:

(p.s. Thanks Buffy, Harriet's a little cracker too! I often think that when I see her smiley little face)
