Doubt that made sense:dohh:
I expressed some milk earlier on (a whole 1oz from both sides :coffee:) and it's now in the fridge. When I express after our next feed can I express directly into that bottle? So then the bottle will be essentially a full feed at the end of the day and I can freeze it all, instead of freezing lots of little bits?

Wasn't sure if I could put the fresh stuff in with the chilled stuff.

(Really wish I didn't have to express but have to leave LO 3 hours on Saturday for a tutorial  )

No, you can't directly express milk into already chilled milk.

However, what you can do is express some more milk into a clean container, then chill it and then add it to the already chilled milk. Then you can freeze it all together.

Ah, okay, just because I only have one bottle, I'll pour the chilled milk into a container and use the empty bottle, thanks

Found this:

"While it was originally thought that a mother had to cool her fresh breastmilk before combining it with previously expressed cooled milk, the latest research now shows that you may pump directly into already refrigerated or cooled milk as long as the milk is added within 24 hours of the first milk expressed. You should then follow the storage recommendations based upon the time and date of the first milk expressed. You may pump directly into milk that has been stored at room temperature as long as you do so within 10 hours. This milk would need to then be used."

Yes, you can. I do it all of the time then freeze it. Also did it with my last baby a lot too.

Oops, it seems you can, according to Kellymomn as well. I was going by the BNF advice and what the milk bank have told me, although obviously the latter may have stricter guidelines.

Sorry!
