im being induced???

as i know they have to monitor you pretty closely.

I think it depends on the hospital and circumstances, and if you are induced by drip or pessary. At my hospital it was a blanket policy of induction= no pool.

i wasnt allowed to use the pool with my first even tho they only broke my waters as they wanted to monitor me all the way thru :(

awww ok, ill set myself up for no pool if im induced. i wont argue with it they know whats best and why.

its not always a case of whats best as sometimes they do whats easier for them. if u really wanted a water birth u can opt for not being induced and to be monitored.

hope u get ur water birth because it is lovely

Good luck Emz :-) Hope the birth goes really well for you.

If you are being induced they will want you on a monitor through labour. So no pool.

i had to stay on the bed throughout my labour. i wasnt even allowed off the bed to go to the loo x

When I just had a pessary and my waters broken I was allowed to move around like normal and I even had a bath so I guess maybe you'd be allowed then? But she had to put me on a drip as I wasn't dilating fast enough so then I was stuck to the bed :(

At my unit if you are induce by artificial rupture of membrane only then you can go in the pool, if you were induced by pessary/synto then no.

:)

I wasn't allowed :( But my first midwife allowed me to spend loads of time in the bath and do whatever I wanted, just monitored shortly every half hour. The 2nd midwife after they changed shifts was a b***h - she wanted me on the bed monitoring me constantly, needless to say I ignored her.

I wanted a water birth too, but I'm also being induced at 38 weeks as I'm diabetic. Bit gutted actually because I really wanted one but spoke to my midwife about it and she said no :(
