Can someone explain Clomid? Any success?

Can someone explain to me what exactly Clomid does?

Is it available over the counter?

Is it synthetic or all natural?

Has anyone had any success?

I want to boost my chances of getting pregnant but want to keep whatever I am putting in my mouth as natural as possible. I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys!

Clomid stimulates your ovaries to produce eggs. It basically tricks your body into thinking you aren't producing enough estrogen so your body makes more...i think that's what I remember...you could google it. It is not natural and you must get a prescription from your doctor. It worked for me. I went 3 months without af then took progesterone to start af followed by clomid 50mg and ovulated.

You can buy it online without a prescription but this is not recommended as it increases your chances of multiples and there are side effects. (source: research)

I think they can tell you have taken it when they do your scan as well apparently (that part is only what I've heard)

DO NOT BUY THIS ONLINE. you could hyperstimulate your ovaries of you are already ovulating, cause yourself to stop ovulating, or even rupture your ovaries without medical monitoring!
it is NOT natural at all. It is designed for women who do not ovulate on their own, not for someone who does.
if you want to try something with the same effects (essentially) try soy isoflavones. they are all natural, very cheap, and are taken just like clomid except double the dosage. (ie start with 100mg of soy where you would normally start with 50mg of clomid) you choose when to take them based on what you want.
more follicles to increase chances of ovulation- days 1-5. or 2-6
one big strong eggy- 3-7 or 5-9.
if you have longish cycles 5-9 is supposed to be better.
BUT- it can mess you cycle up. i am on clomid now (prescribed and monitored) and the soy made me spot through the last 10 days of my cycle and didnt end in pregnancy at all. it also extended my cycle length by 4 days. Lots of people see great results with it though.
