What's it all about? I was supposed to do a course on it but didn't have the time, my little boy is 5 and a half months old and my milk just isn't enough for him anymore, he's hungry all the time, he's reaching out for our food when were eating and he's started waking every hour during the night for a feed, all indications to me that he's ready for some proper food. But where do I start. I've been introducing him to baby rice and feeding him myself and he's wolfing it down. He doesn't have any teeth yet so what kind of foods should I be giving him? Is there any handy little tools I should be using? I'm a bit clueless really x

You basically just give him appropriate portions of whatever you're eating. It can be anything aside from honey and whole nuts.

The weaning recommendation here is actually to start with meat now, so we started by tearing off bits of the chicken we were eating and she would nom on it. She didn't have teeth so chicken was soft enough to break down with her gums. We also gave her lots of steamed veggies and cut up fruit.

I started a few days before 26 weeks. basically the first couple of weeks I just gave finger vegetables, like roasted courgettes/peppers and so on, or boiled carrots. Then after that I just gave a portion of our food- things like bolognese, chicken curry, casserole, bread dipped in soup and so on. As long as it's not too salty, you can really give anything.

Joni struggled with meat a lot at first, except shredded chicken. At first she didn't eat much but by about 11 months she was gobbling whole meals down. x
