Can teething cause constipation?

My girl is 16 weeks old, and exclusively breastfed. Last week she had a little tummy bug which meant she was vomiting after every feed. I took her to the GP who prescribed Infant Gaviscon to be given after each feed to help her keep her milk down and avoid dehydration while the bug passed. It was just a nasty 24-hour thing, and passed through her system no problem. Obviously, because she'd been sick, her bowel movements were a bit different (smaller, more frequent poos, instead of her once-a-day explosive poo). Now she's teething. I've been using Bonjela Teething Gel for three days. And she hadn't pooed since Saturday. Most unlike her.
This morning she was crying like she was in pain, which I put down to her sore gums. I gave her a cuddle and she settled, so not too worried. But I've just changed her nappy and she started pooing while I was changing her...TMI alert! It came out like a solid, yellow sausage! To the point that I could break the "string" of poo off while I was wiping her bum. She kept crying out in a pained way, straining and arching her back, then a bit more solid poo would come out.
I thought the so-called "teething nappies" were looser and stinkier than usual?! This is the complete opposite! Very little smell.
Is it the teething, do you think? Or more likely related to last week's stomach bug?
I have an appointment with the practice nurse this afternoon, for LO's jabs, so I can ask her for advice, but is this something I should see the doctor for?
LO is fine in herself, aside from the dribbling and whining about the sore gums. She's been feeding as normal.

Any advice, or reassurance?
Thanks all.

If she is exclusively breast fed she shouldn't get constipated - although it is quite common for them to go a few days without pooing. That definitely doesn't sound right and i would be surprised if teething caused it. More likely something she is eating - i would suspect the gaviscon. Hope that is the last of it and she goes back to normal.

Thanks, Sprat.
She's gone two days without a poo before, then done a huge, explosive poo (the kind that requires a bath!), but nothing like this. The Gaviscon and/or the stomach bug does seem the most likely culprit.
I'll definitely ask the nurse this afternoon; I'll be in the GP surgery anyway, so if she suggests consulting the doctor it'll be easy enough.

Yes possibly her body over compensating for the tummy bug. Poor thing. Probably best to check if you are going there later.

Well, I took her in for her jabs (so glad they're over until she's 1!) and asked the nurse about the constipation. She said it's almost certainly down to the Gaviscon and to just keep feeding, and offer some cooled, boiled water if need be. She also said that, now that LO's passed one bowel movement, she'll probably be "unclogged", as it were!

My LO was prescribed gaviscon as he has reflux. We then stopped using it as he got really badly constipated, and this solved our problem straight away! x
