Can tossing and turning in bed cause baby to get wrapped by the cord?

I wouldn't worry to much.. Like Jess said baby's move around on their own anyway. My main concern with night time is that I squash her when I roll over lol.

Im pretty sure that if the baby is uncomfortable they will continue to kick the hell out of you until you move! Mine ALWAYS punches and kicks me if i try to sit cross legged (used to sit this way all the time so often forget I can't do it anymore due to lack of room)

I asked my doc this and she said... "Stop worrying. There's no way to prevent the cord wrapping around any part of the body. There is so much fluid the cord doesn't get tight to do damage. The baby doesn't need oxygen in there even if it was wrapped around the neck, it's perfectly fine!" pls try to relax. I wish I did. Now that my son isnhere and beat all odds, I'm learning to be more worry free!

You know sometimes I think this site is not good for me - I'm now worrying about this and too much movement due to posts on here - but I seem to be addicted!!! Ahhrrrr!!!

its baby's activity that causes them to get wrapped up in their cord..not mums..try not to worry...easier said than done I know as I constantly worry about this

Oh no, I think I've made a lot of other mums on this site worry now - from the experienced ladies on here, apparently it's baby's movements that we need to worry about  so please don't worry because of me!

I have an appt tomorrow with the MW so will be sure to ask her just for peace of mind.

eeeeeeeeeeekkkkkk this is something i really worry about, i hope its nothing we do as i toss and turn a lot, i darent google it i wouldnt want to read the answers lol, i think its something we all worry about x

I doubt it...and close to the end I doubt there's enough room left for it to get more tangled.

I know our little peanut was squeezing his cord at our last mw appt because his heart beat slowed down for about a second while she was listening. So now I'm worried he won't leave his cord alone...I guess it's pretty boring in there!

I was told at one time that some babies have long cords and some have short ones. The longer cords are more likely to get wrapped than the shorter ones.

Either way - nothing you can do about it! Try not to worry!

Now - question for you tossers... When you roll over in bed, do you actually ROLL OVER your belly? I never do - I always have to sit up to switch sides!

I do that too! It wakes me completely up everytime I do it. There was ONE night a couple weeks ago though where I woke up mostly on my belly somehow. I was laying there half asleep thinking "wow I am finally SO comfortable!" Then I suddenly realized I was laying on my tummy! lol Freaked me out a little but baby is just fine!

Agreed - nothing you do will affect that. I was born at 29 weeks because I was being strangled by the cord. My mum woke up bleeding one day, went to the hospital, and the had to do a c section.

Nature has a funny was of telling you things ;)

I am a horrible sleeper and can never get comfortable so am always tossing and turning. I wouldn't worry about it. My baby never stops moving and if i'm in a funny position she kicks the hell out of me, lol
