Can You Tell Down's Syndrome at 12 Weeks?

another thing to consider is getting the maternti21 test. this is a noninvasive blood test that looks for fetal dna in the maternal blood. more specific than the screening bloods and has no risks of miscarriage. it might be worth looking into if you are on the fence about whether you want amnio etc

I have my genetic screening appointment Tuesday when I'll be 10+6. It's a non invasive blood test and an ultrasound. So yes, they could tell if you are at a higher risk of having a baby with downs that early but I wouldn't consider just an ultrasound to be a conclusive result.

I do feel anger towards those who opt out of a pregnancy because of DS but you hear horror stories of the ones who are aborted perfectly healthy after being diagnosed with DS improperly. Don't know whether to be angry or feel sorry for the mother.

One of my biggest fears because of my age (42) is Downs. I'll just have to cross the amniocentesis bridge when it comes

No personal experience, but my cousin has had false positives with both of her pregnancies. Her babies are 100% fine.

prolifer- stop stirring up trouble. people make the decisions that work for them and their family and don't need uninvolved outsiders sticking their noses in.

I expect it's the anger bit you posted, it's a bit harsh on those who decide not to bring a disabled baby into the world.
