Well my OH and I have been talking about baby names. The only thing that we have decided for sure is that the baby will have a Japanese name. After that, we have a list of names, each with a significant meaning (I'll add the meanings). So I'd like some input from the lovely ladies here!

GIRLS :pink:
Amaya ("night rain")
Harumi ("spring beauty")
Sakura ("cherry blossom")
Hanako ("flower child")
Katsumi ("victorious beauty")
Aiko ("love child")
Sachiko ("happy child")
Tsukiko ("moon child")

BOYS :blue:
Akio ("glorious man")
Hajime ("beginning")
Masaaki ("true brightness")
Tatsuo ("dragon man")
Takeshi ("warrior")
Raiden ("thunder and lightening")
Satome ("daybreak")
Takumi ("skillful" or "artist")

Amaya and Raiden I think are the best choices, but I think a lot depends on your heritage. Certain names would sound better depending on the last name.

Exactly my thoughts: Amaya and Raiden:flower:

I also liked Aiko but as the previous poster said - depends upon your heritage - surname and such.

I like Sakura, but I would worry it'd be too associated with the hibachi restaurant chain.

Raiden: Mortal Kombat (unless you don't mind that.) But I live in the US & I don't know where you're from, & these points might be moot there.

I like the name Tatsuya, but it's not on your list & I don't know what it means anyway. I like Amaya... not feeling any of the boys names though. Hope you finally settle on one! So exciting to have a name for the baby!

Sakura is a lovely name. i have a japanese penpal called Yumi - i think that's quite a cute name too

I love that you mentioned Yumi! My husband calls me his Yukiyumi! lol

if i could i would name my child something japanese related as i love the country so much despite having not been. ^___^

I like Katsumi (Kat for short) or Sakura for a girl and Raiden or Akio for a boy. Very cool names though.

Amaya Is my fav for a girl very pretty!

Akio & Raiden are my favs for a boy i cant decide between them lol

xxxxxxxxx

If any one wants to know, the last name will be Hyashii. Don't know if that will effect any opinions, but some people did mention it.

Thanks for all your input ladies. Amaya does seem to be a popular name among people that we asked, Katsumi is pretty popular too. Most people like Takeshi, Tatsuo or Raiden for a boy.

Emi ( beautiful blessing, beautiful picture) is cute for a girl

I LOVE Amaya -- Katsumi (nn Kat) is also pretty!

Akio is cute for a boy -- although i'm not sure if i'm saying it right
