cant put him down, is this normal?

hi girls i need some help.

LO is 3 weeks old, he got up this morning at 8.30am, its now 1.30pm and he still hasnt slept more than 10 minutes. He will fall asleep on the breast and with me cuddling but when i try and transfer to his moses basket and he's awake instantly. Anything other than laying on me he cries, my mum came round to give me a break - he managed a few minutes with her before he was crying again.

I really dont mind sitting on the sofa all day cuddling my son and watching daytime tv but i get nothing else done, I want to start pumping, pump is currently sat in the kitchen waiting for me to sort it out, im struggling to even go to the loo and make some lunch most days.

Is this just a newborn security thing or do I need to do something. At night he will sleep the first 3 hours in his basket and then the rest of the night on me.
He does like being swaddled but for some reason this only works at night.

Any suggestions?

Very normal but very hard!

I used a Moby wrap to hold him in to give my arms a break and he would sleep in it too

My LO did the same thing at that age. During the day she would only sleep if she was cuddled up on me. I had to put her in the swing or cradle to get her to sleep if I needed a break. Sometimes it helped if I rubbed her belly until she fell asleep.

My DD1 was like this too, it was very hard. She wanted all her daytime naps on me until we did sleep training at 6 months. Once she could sit by herself she became a lot less clingy. Around 8 weeks it got a bit better or I got better at dealing with it. I would say just accept that that's what you have to do. If people come to help make them clean your house!!! It doesn't last forever

My LO is 8 weeks now and was exactly the same at 3-4weeks.. she went all clingy.. i just let her do what she wanted.. she fanied cuddling me all day so i let her

she has grown out of it though... and now loves to lie in her cot singing to herself then she falls asleep on her own! I have a chicco baby carrier.. which was amazing for those clingy couplr of weeks...

i slightly wished i had enjoyed all of the cuddles whilst she still wanted them.. now she can move a little and turn onto her side.. all she wants to do is chillaxx on her play mat and show of her new tricks.. even when i want cuddles!

My lo was the same he still is very cling but i can put him down for a few minutes but not too long. just keep going it gets better like said before just accept it as it won't change till ur lo is ready .
