Please tell me that I'm not alone with this. My baby is just a couple days shy of six months, and still cannot roll over from back to front. He can roll on his side, but then gets stuck.

I know every baby is different. I know they all reach their milestones at different times. I give him plenty of floor time and try to coax him over with toys and music. :nope:

He could roll from front to back at three months, so I figured rolling the other way would come just as easily. I think I just need some reassurance.

My first one never rolled back to front. That's Just how she was. She rolled tummy to back to get out of doing tummy time, and was happy lying and playing and sleeping in her back. I tried religiously, but she just wasn't having it. She walked at 11 months and is now 4 and perfectly fine. So try not to worry.
On another note, my second baby and my little 3 month old right now roll back to tummy, and it caused waking in the night ( when they had been sleeping through for 12 hrs) cause they would roll onto tummy and get mad. Took a week or more for them to get used to sleeping in tummy. My little guy is going through this now and I wished he couldn't roll and get stuck on his tummy!

Mine didn't roll this way until she was about 5 months but I know plenty who never rolled and one who only just started rolling at 11 months and now at 13 months is cruising everywhere!

It's harder to roll back to front. Front to back they usually do by accident at first, especially as early as three months. It takes a while for them to build up the core strength and coordination to do it on a whim. At six months your little one is by no means abnormal. Just keep putting him down on his front and he will build the necessary muscles he needs to master this skill and everything that comes after. :flower:

DD didn't roll until she was 8 months she was just really lazy no amount of tempting her worked.

She crawled for the first time two weeks ago and is now cruising everywhere!

Babies work to their own timetable not just the ones in books so please try not to worry xx

DD never really rolled, moved,crawled..she was a lazy mare and still is! She bum shuffled at 9 months but walked 2 weeks after her 1st birthday.

DS rolled at 4 months and is now bear crawling.. completely different yet again.

This might help put your mind at ease?

Honestly, I think you have nothing to worry about. :flower:

I've read about babies that didn't really roll. The fact that he rolls front to back and rolls from back to side means he's working on it and on the right path though.

Sophie didn't roll in either direction at 6 months. She's an absolutely normal child :-). My son rolled both ways by 13 weeks so it was strange at tue time.

DS never rolled back to front, he also didn't crawl until 11 months. He was cruising everywhere at 8 months though, took his first unaided steps at 10 months and was walking properly a week after his first birthday. He just preferred to be upright.

Thank you all for responding. It really did help. I will try not to worry about it for now.

Mine didn't either but she did it out of the blue one day at 7 months :)

Thanks. :)

Just to let you all know, he ended up rolling over yesterday afternoon. And now he won't stop lol. Hooray!

Yeah, when they're half way there, it's just a matter of time before they go all the way over!

Haha, that's great! Welcome to the exhausting world of the increasingly-mobile baby!

Thanks! I actually can't wait for him to be mobile. The sooner, the better. He is extremely unhappy if he is not on the go at all times, and gets frustrated very easily when he doesn't get what he wants.

Mobile baby means you're on your way to toddlers and toddlers are fun.

DD did not roll at all at 6 months. Was not even sitting unaided.

My LO (4.5 months) can roll back to front and front to back.. but it's driving me insane. Hes done it occasionally for about a month, but a couple days ago.. Got the bloody hang of it. Now, he's constantly upsetting himself by faceplanting the floor! Haha. Count yourself lucky ;) x

My lg rolled once or twice at 5 months then never again till 7 months when we couldn't keep her still. She has since crawled at 9m and is walking at 12m so not late with any further movement developments.
