Hi Ladies,

Im new here and 20 weeks preggo. I was in a car crash due to a very careless and inconsiderate teenage punk who was going about 2-3 times the speed limit. Hubs was driving so at least I wasn't hit by the steering wheel... but the lap belt did dig in to my bump and there was a major jolt hubs hurt his neck and i am sore where the belt was =(

Went to ER but all they did was check a fetal heart rate/scan which looked good. Doc said main concern is for placental abruption... did anybody have a placental abruption after suffering a car accident? If she is so worried about it why doesn't she do another scan/monitor me or do bloodwork...???? She does not seem worried and just says if you are not bleeding everything is fine... but what about a concealed abruption??

I am so worried and depressed. I have dont everything in my power to make this pregnancy as healthy as possible and now i feel like i its all for nothing :nope: cant seem to stop crying i feel like my life is over.

What should i do? Am I overreacting or is doc just not taking this seriously enough? I don't think there is a such thing as overracting. A car accident is no joke and neither is placental abruption. You can't be too careful with a precious little baby inside.

Thx and G_d bless

:hugs: aww hunny, i no it sounds silly but try not to worry yourself too much as the stress is not good for baby. I dont really have much advice other than to give your MW a call, im sure she will will help if she can.

Good luck hun xx

I agree, give your midwife a call she might feel a scan is needed to put your mind at rest if nothing else!!! Your at a pretty safe part of pregnancy atm though hun sooo try and relax( I know how hard it is ) but there is ALOT of fluid protecting bubs and if u arent bleeding then its an excellent sign!

Healthy & Happy pregnancy to you x

:hugs: i haven't got much advice, but i would if i were you, go to gp/a&e and voice concerns again, the stress caused by worrying over baby isn't good, so it would be worth having your mind put to ease. xx

thx ladies...i called the hospital they said no scans unless doc orders one and doc wont order one since im not bleeding..this is my worst nightmare

Hi,

I had a car accident last Thurs. We were waiting for a car to turn into their drive and the car behind did not see us, went into the back of us and we went into the car infront.

We went straight to A&E and they checked my blood pressure and listened to the heartbeat. I also got my midwife out to see me the next day. She did the same checks too and said everything seemed fine.

If there is no blood and you are feeling the baby moving around, all should be okay.

I got told I may experience some period type pains and if I do take paracetamol.

The doctor told us that the baby is protected by the amniotic fluid, so it has to be a really big impact - being hit in the stomach to cause any real harm.

I was 21wks when I had the accident and I was the driver.

So please try not to worry too much xxx

hi hun, not really got any advice but didnt want to read and run, hope all is well for you xx

thx olivia... glad that you and baby are doing well =) i wish i was as brave as you are through all of this. did the seatbelt hit you hard with a jolt like it did me? that is what i am worried about the most.

I had a car accident when i was 16 weeks with my daughter, the car that hit me was written off and i was driving. The seat belt left marks but my daughter was born fir and well at 36 weeks so dont worry i was advised the shock is worse than the accident so am sure you will be fine

Hi,

Yeah it did hit quite hard. I was shaking when I got out of the car and the bottom of my back was killing me.

Are you feeling your baby move?

try not to worry too much hun, i think if you had an abruption you would of noticed, i had an abruption at 30 weeks with my daughter 4 years ago i woke up one morning and was in agony they discoverd the abruption when i had a scan luckly its was not a bad one and had weekly scans to make sure it diddnt get worse, i ended up been induced a week early just to be on the safe side and my little girl was born fit and healthy! if its worring you that much maybe speak to your doctor again and explain yourt fears and make him book you in for a scan, but honestly hun everything will prob be fine xx

Did not want to read and run. Hope you and bubs are OK, keep us updated if you manage to get a scan or hear anymore from MW. Good luck, sending hugs your way :hugs:

I was in an accident at 25 weeks and went in to the hospital. They hooked me up to a monitor to check the baby's hb and i had a clicker in hand to record movements. Everything was fine but they sent me in for an ultrasound to check for placental abruption. They sent me as a precaution even though i wasnt bleeding nor was there any pain. If its causing you worry, call back to request an ultrasound. Better safe than sorry, though I'm sure everything will turn out fine. Maybe mention that the stress of not knowing is bad for the baby? :hugs:

Well I thought I was having contractions today... turns out I wasn't thank G_d!! So they had me come in and checked the babies heartbeat again... and it was fine!! :happydance::happydance:But when I asked the doc if I could get another scan for my peace of mind she got very mad and said no way there is no way I can do that and you just put me in a difficult position for even asking me to do that!! Geez!! Talk about overreacting! So I guess no scan for me.

I just worry about a concealed/silent abruption because if I had an overt one I would bleed and then know it. :nope::nope:I also worry that the baby could have been hurt from the blow i mean its organs are so tiny!! I feel like they should be doing something more... dont you ladies??

Babyfever- im so glad your LO is healthy and happy :baby::baby: What did your abruption feel like? I have been having mild cramping in my lower abdomen as well as pelvic pressure... is that what it felt like? was it a mild pain or severe pain?

oliviarose- I can't say whether or not the baby is moving normally because I haven't felt it move yet. I wish I had your attitude... I just can't stop worrying.

birthdaybaby- I feel like they should have monitored me more like they did you. Was your accident a major one? Mine wasn't but the impact was very major.
