Hi all

so some of you know Ellie is in her cast and hopefully gets it off on the 4th Nov as they dont want to put her back under GA, we were originally told that it would be into the new year but her hip has formed and looking good, anyway she is in a carseat that the hospital gave us and we will need to give it back when the cast comes off

Ellie is still only 15lb 3oz and thats with the cast on which weighs around 1lb 8oz so she is def still under the 9kg but she is over 9 month, my question is could we use her original 1st baby carseat to bring her home in if she gets the cast off, TBH we are skint at the moment and would use that til after xmas and new year if we got the cast off is this ok i.e is she an ok weigh to still be in the original carseat, its a babystyle prestige one https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=b...t=25&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:25&tx=50&ty=47

thanks all

obv if we needed to move onto a new carseat we would need to go out an buy one and struggle for a month moneywise, we wouldnt risk her safety

it does say the carseat can do to 13kg and upto 18 month

If she's under the 13kg weight limit then she's fine to be in it as long as her head isn't above the top of the seat. Her weight is more important than her age - she doesn't have to move to a different seat just because she's over 9 months. Tom was still using his baby seat (maxi cosi one) until nearly 13 months because he was within the weight limit and didn't outgrow it height wise until then.

Just as long as she isn't too "tall" it's not a problem to keep her in it until she hits the weight limit (we only changed to an erf seat a month ago because LO plus car seat was starting to get awkward to get in and out of the car!)

agree with pp's, its the weight that's most important. If she's under 9kg then she needs to be in the infant seat even if she's over 9 months. So glad your lo is having her cast off and things are ok! Jx

yeah thats what I thought although since Ellie got the cast on im may she was tiny then she has had to go in a forward facing carseat as its the only one that fits the cast, we had to have the department from carseat safety wend us out a letter to keep in the car with us explaining this incase the police stopped us for a spot check xx
