I have apparently developed it in both of my wrists.

Other than the braces is there anything else that can help?

Im in so much pain. Its like someone has doused my wrists and hands in gasoline and set them on fire.

There are some stretching exercises you can do that provide some temporary relief but splints are really the best thing to keep the pressure off the nerve. I was hoping to get away with it as had it severely when pregnant with dd along with de Quervains tendinitis but today my right hand has been really numb and painful so I know it's starting again :( I had to stop working at 6 months due to it last time.

I had severe carpal tunnel pain in my first pregnancy. The pain was unbearable! I found the braces helped alot, especially when sleeping. I hope you can find some relief soon.

Ugh, I'm so sorry, that is miserable. I had it terribly the last two months with DS #1. I feel like I'm developing it again, but so far it is not nearly as severe.

As everyone has said, the braces definitely help. Also, even though this is an absolutely temporary fix, one of the best pain relievers for me was to hold my wrists under warm running water. I guess it was the combination of warmth and pressure, but it helped every time (for a while.)

Also, I've tried icing (logically, this should work as it shrinks swelling...) but I never really got relief from that. I read a few different articles about heating pads helping (logically they should NOT help, as heat induces swelling...) because the school of thought says that the heat loosens up the muscles surrounding the nerves that cause the pain. Surprisingly, this actually helped, and didn't seem to have any bad effects later brought on by increased swelling.

I also slept every night with my arms each propped up on stacks of pillows (yes, I kicked DH out of bed to do this lol.)

I hope you get some relief!! It is truly miserable. : ( But, on the bright side, it disappeared literally the day my son was delivered. : ) So there is an end in sight!

Thank you all!

I will be getting the braces on my next paycheck but thats a week away. My cousin sent me a video of some stretches which makes me feel slightly human. Im more afraid of any damage it may cause in the long run and hoping it doesnt last for the rest of my pregnancy.

*hugs* i had full blown carpal tunnel when i was a little younger (the youngest case the hospital had seen :haha: ) When you sleep try not lie on your arms/wrists and keep them straight as possible.

i second the heat pads and hand warmers they really help. The braces will help tenfold when you get them! until then have you a bandage you could use as a make shift wrist support?

When typing you need to make sure your wrists are elevated a little otherwise it will make it worse. Take regular breaks from typing or anything where you are repetitively using your hands.

and just try remember it should get better after your pregnancy. I had both of my hands operated on to relieve mine but have permanent nerve damage.
