My kitten seems to have a cold.. it's only been this week, but I know that in the pet stores, SPCAs, shelters they can get some kind of respiratory infection??

I've never had a cat that seemed to have a cold like she does before. She's eating/drinking like normal, going to the washroom, she was just fixed and her incision is fine, stitches have dissolved.. it's just she sneezes so much! And I'm not sure if she is "coughing", it seems like she is trying to get a hair ball up but nothing is coming.

Shall I take her to the vet or call or??

I always think with young animals especially that a check up at the vets is the safest option,
It could be all kinds of things, how are her eyes?, is there a discharge from her nose?
Are you using disinfectant sprays? (like for if she has a 'accident' on the floor) she could have a problem with her Kittie litter,
She could have a Nasal infection and need a few antibiotics, it could be cat flu.
Has she had all her jabs? does she go out? how old is she?

:hugs: xxx

She is 6 months old, a strictly indoor cat, though this week she got outside for an hour :dohh:, she is up to date with her vaccinations (actually just got fixed and her 2nd set of shots the week before last). No discharge from her nose/eyes because I've been watching for that too, poo seems normal and I've been using the same cat litter since I've had her (got her in August). Have not changed my disinfectant but I did start using these new plug-in deodorizer things, that's the only thing I could think of bothering her in that department- because they are strong

ETA- at first I thought the coughing was hairballs, but now her meow is sounding hoarse so I am going to take her to the vet. I can't go until Friday at the earliest, my mom has some of her paperwork (she picked her up for me a couple of weeks ago when she got fixed and forgot to give me all the records).. and since we are switching vets I need those; she is adopted and this one specific vet in town will spay/neuter any animals you adopt through that agency for free and give you a discount on their vaccinations, our other cat was done the same way, same vet and was fine :()... but I'm going to make her "regular vet" the one up the street my parents animals always went to.. anyways my mom can't bring her paperwork until 4:30 tomorrow and they close at 4. I'm so upset :( I've been looking online and it says keep them warm, comfy.. I want to do more!!

Oh and I just realized, usually she is a piggy and eats all of her cat food and begs at the table and wants more cat food at night (I am feeding her Royal Canin for 2nd growth stage kittens, approx 1c daily).. anyway she didn't finish her morning food, I'd say there is a 1/4c there; she was bugging us for food at lunch (we don't feed her but she is relentless and sometimes will lick the crumbs under the high chair :dohh:).. and so I'm not giving her more for the night, but her water I think I've given her 3 bowls today.

The vet cancelled my appointment Friday because of an emergency with another patient, so I'm stuck waiting until Tuesday (it's Thanksgiving holiday weekend here).. unless I took her to the emergency animal hospital... do I think that is necessary though.. not really.. she seems to be doing better, getting her pep back, but still sneezing here and there-- a lot less though. Her meow is okay now, but she is still "hacking".. my mom told me it's probably a hairball, she's never coughed one up before.. but honestly she is a weird cat, I never see her bath herself, my cat at my mom's house would sit there forever licking and do it several times per day..

it may be snuffles. If you got her from the spca or another shelter, it may well be snuffles, as it's highly contagious and often spreads around shelters. One of my kittens I got from the spca developed it after we took her home.
Apart from the sneezing, what else does she have - runny nose and eyes? If so, I would almost bet it is snuffles. I'd get a vet appointment asap, as these things can really get a small kitten fast. Hope she's feeling better soon! :hugs:

No runny eyes or nose, just sneezing. I adopted her in August and she was at the vet 2 weeks ago ish to get fixed..

Is she vaccinated? Vaccines cover snuffles so it's probably not that after all. We had to take one of ours to the vet the other week because she kept sneezing and we thought it might be snuffles but they said she was fine but said it could be a sensitivity to anything new we've bought into the house. (flowers, cleaners etc.) I think it may have been the flowers that OH bought me, as that was all we could think of.

Yep she has her 1st and 2nd vaccinations plus rabies. I did bring new plug-ins home, they're the "Wallflowers" from Bath & Body Works.. they smell strong but don't bother me, that could be doing it I guess, it started around the same time probably
