Cbeebies topsy & tim

So what if its sexist...so what if there a nuclear family...alot of kids can relate to that set up, so why shouldnt they be catered to as well.

Someone mentioned the fixing the roof episode - Well in my house, my husband would fix the roof and i do do the shopping. My son would rather opt to go and play with cars etc than make cakes, trust me ive tried to get him interested in baking but he isnt.

I like the program, so does my toddler - I like the dynamics of the family, its one i can relate too.

This! Totally fed up of reading things as sexist! Every little thing, toys being pink/dolls for boys/ topsy and frickin tim! If our car needed fixing, Jonny would do it, if there's shopping to be done, me and Madi do it. Zach likes dinosaurs, cars, motorbikes, dirt, quad bikes tools. Madi likes dolls, soft toys, dressing up, playing house. If either of my kids wanted to do any of these things I would encourage them. But boys and girls are different, that's life!
We LOVE Topsy and Tim! (Have it one series record!)

Topsy and tim books are at least 30 years old, I had a days of the week set when I was little and I'm 36! So the stories would would probably be considered rather sexist thesedays, a bit like enid blyton books get in trouble for not being pc

It is so incredibly boring. Nothing happens to rock the boat and all the characters seem to agree on everything all the time. It's like watching your perfect, boring next door neighbours for 15 minutes a day, except MORE boring.

Tom loves Topsy and Tim...have to admit I had the books as a kid too and I'm 41...not surprising they seem a bit out of date!

But I like the fact not much happens - its family life for a lot of kids and that's why kids like it. But I do have a problem with the stereotypical girl and boy roles and it's a shame they didn't update it a bit tbh. My boy does love pink and dolls so it's yet another programme to re-enforce he should be playing with cars etc when he's just not interested.
