Back story- Very irregular periods, have never seen Dr for it, but I think I have PCOS.
My last periods:
11/10
1/11
6/11
9/11

I'm now on CD 52!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! of the Sept cycle, and feeling so very very down about TTC.

I did NTNP 11 months, and when I got my period in September, tried soy isoflavones, hoping to ovulate, or bring stronger ovulation.

I don't temp or OPK, but that's simply because my cycles are so long (averaged to 101 days :dohh: ) that I have NO idea when or if I ovulate.
---
I went to the hospital in June because I had SEVERE pain Memorial Day & hadn't had a period since January. I waited 2 weeks (stupid, I know, but no insurance at the time), then went in, and they diagnosed me with PID (Pelvic inflammatory disease).

...wait, what? :nope:

Dr did so without even asking about my long cycles, or anything related to my periods. All he did was bloods to make sure I wasn't preggers and he did a pap (only because I wanted to, he let me decide whether or not to even have a pap).

He poked my stomach in the middle, when I said it hurt, he decided it was PID. (Even though I'm married, PID is usually due to an STD, and I had a clean STD test before I got married, MONTHS before I went to the ER!)

Then in Sept (my next period after June's), I almost went to the hospital because I thought the *supposed* PID was back ( was having bad pains again) , but no, got :witch: the next day. I guess SEVERE pain just happens when I get my period.
---
I can't wait to get to a Dr about my periods bc I think the ER dr misdiagnosed me and sent me on my way ASAP bc I had no insurance.

As of now, I'm not doing anything other than waiting for my period :coffee: .

I just want to cry.

Hey. I know how you feel. Since coming off birth control my periods have also been all over the place. I had one beginning of feb. Then one at the end of June. Then end of august. Then bizarrely I had one at the end of September and now nothing. No signs of af and I want it to show so I can start my chlomid.

The point is that it sucks bring so irregular. You should def get checked out. I have had loads of tests done and been told that my periods are just odd due to not ovulating but not due to pcos.

a1b2c3- Thanks.

Sorry you're going through this too!

The most annoying thing is the not knowing- I won't have insurance til the new year and it's killing me. :\

Bless you. Just try to stay positive. And yes I know that is easier said than dine.

I know it is hard and seems pointless to chart etc but I think you should. That way you can at least show the dr you are trying and also might help give him some info.

Also slightly personal question (so sorry in advance) do you check your cm? As soon as ibstart getting more of it and wetter I will do opks. That way I don't waste my money but it also gives me that bit of hope that the timing is right. I don't always get a positive but when I do, we know it's time to get to work!

a1b2c3-

I have charted a tiny bit (as far as noting my cycle length and heaviness of my flow on my period) , but I don't temp. I really want to start doing that ASAP.

I haven't tried OPKs, but also have been thinking about it.

Haha, personal, are you kidding? When TTC, nothing is personal :winkwink:
-I have checked my CM before, but it wasn't ever really helpful that I found... I'm so irregular with everything I just don't know.

I hate having silly cycles, I've just done a 190 cycle, going from April to the other day! Wish this TTC lark was easier! Things we have to do eh! Good luck with everything girls x

Have you had your thyroid checked?

When I came off the pill (about 12 years ago, so I'm dating myself, lol), my cycles were long, and they determined that I had hypothyroidism.
It was a pretty quick fix and is definately worth looking into.

I'll have to do that once I sort out my insurance.

I was on the pill from 2007-2009, (then was on it last Sept for a month), and had to get off due to side effects. I never did well on the pill. :nope:

So I have been off the pill for a year and have had 4 periods since then.
I'm only 22, so being this irregular scares me.

I can only imagine how unbearable it must be to wait forever for your period. I would really recommend that you try dieting. The low GI diet is a diet which helps many many people with PCO. Also the results usually come soon after you start the diet.
Best wishes, Amber
PS. I have a book about the diet (which is scientifically tested on PCO-women and has shown amazing results) but the book is not in english. However, on a different forum I read about a book called Syndrome X by Jack Challem and the girl that told about it had PCO and got pregnant shortly after starting the diet.

Amber3- Thanks. I want to start dieting, my MIL is giving me some exercise equipment too. There was a time when I was on a gluten free diet and I think my body really liked that, so I may go to that again. :)

That said, I have been a size 7-18, and no matter what I weigh, my periods are still irregular.

Yeah you can be completely skinny and still have PCO. However, many people who do the low GI diet actually start ovulation and conceiving without further help.
I am really interested in the gluten free diet too since I have endometriosis and I heard a lot of good stuff about it. ... But dieting is just so hard :coffee:

I did a gluten free diet for 2+ yrs, and really the hardest part about it is READING LABELS. Everything has gluten in it. Campbell's Tomato Soup? Gluten in it.

Another thing was that I started eating more corn: corn tortillas, tortilla chips with salsa, corn flakes, hominy grits for breakfast, etc. Grocery stores like walmart and meijer are also starting to have gluten free-pastas such as corn and rice pasta ( around $3 a bag, so just a little more than regular gluten-y pasta).

You can also use rice and beans, and lentils, in place of the wheat carbs in your diet. I got so all I ate for breakfast was corn flake cereal/grits with peanut butter with some sausage patties or eggs, and for lunch a tuna salad-in-a-soft-corn-tortilla wrap. Dinner I loved pasta, so I'd do that with some ground turkey.

-Hope that helps, PM me if you have anything else to ask about it.

CD 56 today. :coffee:

I took a HPT yesterday, and one today- both :bfn:

I'm going to get some agnus cactus on Wednesday and try to regulate my cycles!

I know how you feel about waiting... I had 4 months between periods twice now, and the only reason it was only 4 months is because I was given prescriptions to bring on my period each time! It's so frustrating to just be waiting and hoping and having NOTHING show up!

I hope you get insurance soon and get the answers you deserve. :hugs:
