I have my CD21 tests on Thursday.

Please can anyone tell me a little bit more about them? What are they exactly testing for. What should be the normal 'level' and what is abnormal?

This is the first step to recurrent miscarriage testing for me.

When I went to the docs to asked to be referred, we talked for what seemed forever and it went a bit over my head!

Thanks, Rumps x

I personally haven't had that done, but what they are checking for is to see what your progesterone levels are. If your progesterone levels are low, that can really cause problems with a pregnancy. The progesterone hormone is what helps incubate a pregnancy. It can easily be fixed with progesterone suppliments or cream. I hope that helps! :hugs:

Hi Rumpskin, I had these tests last month and asked a question about them after getting my first result back (CD1-3) https://www.babyandbump.com/problems-trying-conceive/150929-my-result-ok.html

I didn't actually get the exact result for my CD21 test, as I got them over the telephone and all the reception could tell me was that they confirmed ovulation.

So, all I know is that the first test checks for hormone levels and the second tells you whether or not you've ovulated. Hope this helps.

Good luck. x

Hi there

CD21 bloods check to see how high progestrone levels are which indicate Ovulation and help to sustain a healthy pregnancy. My FS said that anything over 30 indicates a good chance of OV. I think they also checked my throid levels too.

Hope this helps xxxx :dust:

yep, over 30 in the uk, over 15 in the us (different measurement system.

Its interesting you mention thyroid levels. I'm guessing different doctors are different as mine didn't check this. I asked because there's a history of underactive thyroid in my family, but my doctor didn't seem concerned about. I wonder if it would be best to get them checked.

Peekaboo, definately get this checked. I had graves disease (overactive) and had to get my thyroid removed however, if you're underactive it can stop ovulation.

Hey Rumpskin,

I had a CD21 test done last month as part of my RCM testing. My levels were at 9 and they should have been 21. I know I ovulated last month (opk and charting).

If your levels are low then this can cause MC as you need progesterone to sustain a pregnancy. I started B6 50mg last month and bought wellsprings progesterone cream (you only use the cream in the LP).

I had CD21 blood test. The only issue with this that my cycle was 30 days and if I ovulated it was around day 19-21. The month I had the Progesterone test I was told that I had probably not ovulated by my doctor when I got my results. 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant.

I think because I ovulate later than the norm my progesterone levels were not high enough. Also that month I had been using B6 to lenghten my LP. All of that would have attributed to me becoming pregnant.

Be aware of you cycle.

Good Luck and I wish you the best in having a sticky bean next time
