I will be seeing my gyno again if no bfp this month (16 months trying) and want to be prepared in my own mind.

I have been on progesterone supplements to try to stop pre-af spotting - but they are not working. My gyno prescribed the prog. without giving me a cd21 test on the basis of my symptoms, which I didn't question at the time because I knew nothing about what tests are available.

Since the prog. is having no effect, and I know I'm ovulating because I temp, and my lp is long enough (12-13 days if you don't count the spotting), I am guessing that the problem lies in the follicular phase of my cycle, so is this what a cd3 test is about (I know nothing about it at all)? Can someone fill me in on what is tested, why, and what the results can show? Any help gratefully received!

I want to be able to argue with my gyno if necessary and demand a test if he doesn't offer one. He is lovely, don't get me wrong, but healthcare here is very behind the west and I don't trust him 100%....

I too am awaiting my CD3 blood test. I have found this:
1) Day 3 Levels of FSH, LH, and Estradiol. The determination of blood concentrations of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol levels on menstrual cycle day 3 has been used to estimate fertility potential. Women with elevated levels of FSH and/or estradiol measurements on cycle day 3 have very poor pregnancy rates with both ovulation induction and assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). More recently, it has been shown that women with elevated blood levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) on cycle day 3 also have poor pregnancy outcomes with fertility therapy.

HTH Hun and Good Luck:hugs:

Wow - that's spooky:argh: Only joking. It's good to hear from a former West Midlander. Where abouts did you live? I am in Sunny Dudley:rofl:
Keep in touch, and let me know how you get on :hug:

The equally sunny Sutton Coldfield! I am only just beginning to face up to the fact that we're having probs ttc. I haven't been in the long termers forum until now as I just keep thinking, this month it'll happen, I've already had a LO so there can't be anything wrong etc etc etc who am I kidding?!!! How long did you wait before seeing the doc? :hugs:

I know what you mean Hun - I too have only just joined this forum - I was originally using Bounty, but there was nowhere for long time ttc really.
I first went to see my GP after 10 months TTC because of my age, so it's seems to be taking for ever. I have done all the OPK's, temping, symptom watching etc, and have been convinced more than once that I have been preggers, but it has not actually happened yet. My body has been cruel to me giving me all the right symptoms, only for :witch: to turn up :cry:

Keep me posted Hun

:hugs::hugs:

My doctor tested for FSH, Estrogen, Testosterone, Prolactin, and LH on CD3. Elevated levels of these hormones will effect your ovulation.
