I went in at 4pm. The Dr. put in the cervadil at 5pm. I didn't feel much of anything until midnight. At this time I told my husband I was contracting every 5-10 minutes. He was at home with our 2 other daughters. He asked if he should take them to their grandparents early and get to the hospital. I said "No, I'll be laboring all night."
I had talked to the nurse about pain relief. When I could have the meds and how often through my IV. I told the nurse that I'd never had the epidural, but have been curious about doing it. She said, if I wanted it, she would help me the entire way.
I barely slept a wink and just laid there feeling each contraction. Enjoying the last moments we had together. I took videos of the movements so I'd remember. I felt like I had to poo, told the nurse and tried to go. Couldn't. The nurse then checked me and said I was still the same 1cm. The baby was just resting on my colon and dang did I want her to move.
Pitocin was started at 630 and I didn't need much. The machine stayed on 4. I was already in labor. (With my 2nd, it was up to 12 before anything happened.) I got pain relief in the IV at this time.
Not long after that the contractions got stronger. The Dr. came in about 7am and I was dilated to 3. He broke my water. My husband arrived right after this. My contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes.
My nurse was so helpful. She raised the bed up so I'd be in the right position. Water kept flowing out of me and there was nothing more weird with each contraction. I was still dilated to 3 here and the nurse went ahead and ordered my epidural.
The epidural was placed and it was so hard sitting through the contractions for it. I didn't feel any pain from the needle. I didn't like how I felt cold and shaky and I didn't know what to expect next.
All of the sudden the nurse couldn't find the baby's heartbeat and I got scared! She called the Dr. Checked me and the baby was already crowing. I had not even had the epidural for 10 minutes. It was BAM! 4 to 10, just like my first 2 inductions.
I pushed 5 minutes and she was here! I would've spent more time pushing had I not worried about her heart rate.
Perfect gorgeous baby girl arrived November 18, 2014 at 10:13am. She weighed 7lbs 10oz, 20 inches long. She is pure perfection.
My best labor, not sure if I'll get the epidural again. To me it wasn't worth its short use. I did feel much better after labor and was up and walking around the minute they allowed me too.
November 19 was a dream... My husband and I started our 10th wedding anniversary with a brand new beauty and our first family portrait.
November 20 my blood pressure was found to not have gone down since her birth and I developed postpartum preclamsia. My liver enzymes were found low and the Dr. started blood pressure meds Porada and magnesium sulfate.
I had an allergic reaction to Porada and had the worst feeling health day I ever had. I swelled up like a balloon, broke out in hives and they didn't know why. I felt like I was dying and all I could do is cry. I didn't understand how I felt so good and so awful just like that... I wanted to take my perfect baby home and be with my family. But I had to stay.
After 16 hours, 4 doses of Porada it was discovered I was allergic to it. They stopped giving me the meds and I was fine. Magnesium sulfate was stopped the next morning and we went home.
