Okay so I thought I would check to see what's going on in there as last couple of night I can't push the pessaries that far in, I thought there might of been (TMI!) but build up, turns out no build up at all, but I was shocked to find my cervix sooo low, I have normal size hands for a 5'2 girl but I didn't get my first knuckle of my middle finger in before I could touch it!! Is that normal??!

From what I understand your cervix will fluctuate up and down in the beginning of pregnancy and it's different woman to woman when it goes up and stays up! I have been worried about it too, but my dr said don't worry it happens and stop checking because I was freaking myself out ;) :dohh:

i find when i need to go number 2 or feel gassy, my cervix will be lower as well

I have a prolapse so mines low any way (not hanging out low ) but when I put the pessery up there I can feel it x

as far as I'm aware, as long as it is still nicely closed it's nothing to worry about, as others have said, your body is stretching and changing so its normal to fluctuate ^_^
But note, it should not be "open" to my knowledge, and if it is I would ring your midwife and get a professional opinion x

Women who already have given birth vaginally often always have a slightly open cervix.

I didnt want to feel whether it was open or closed as I was afraid Of aggravating it. Seems like its been getting lower and lower, as this pregnancys gone on? I have never felt my cervix this low!!
Scary.
I don't have any children so it shouldn't be open though right? Xx

I didn't know this until last year when the mw told my daughter . I would also sugest we are not mw and should not be touching our cervix incase we cause infecion or worse . As I said I have a prolapse so mine is low anyhow but I still don't prod around just incase x

Mine has just started to rise now, prior to this week it was low is similar to when af due. As your uterus grows it will rise up, and this happens at different points for everyone. I'd also like to add, as this is no 5 mine also constantly feels about 2 possibly 3 cms dilated, and that's also perfectly normal. Try not to worry thought its hard I know . Xxx

Okay Thankyou hopefully the midwife will be contacting me this week so I can ask her then, I don't check my cervix when ttc and it was the first time I checked since being pregnant, I'm to afraid to go near it, but I know because its hard to get the pessaries in etc xx

Rhia do you feel presure down there at times ? . I know as a pessery user its hard not to touch it x

Yeah sometimes I do, I also get shooting pains in my cervix when I sit back. Why you ask? Xx

It sounds like you may have a slight prolapse . I get a shooting pain also somettimes makes me feel somethinks stuck lol . Make an appointment with your mw and speak to her and she will confirm or put your mind at rest if its somethink else . Most women have this but can be unaware , I'm under a consultant as when the baby gets bigger it can cause more presure down there but they have things to ease it . Good luck and keep us posted .x

Lol I like that as I though oh Ill google that. Lol. I really have no idea what that is, but I will mention this all to my midwife- supposed to be have a transvaginal scan Tuesday, haven't a clue how that's going to happen lol- Thankyou for your info foxy, I appreciate it :) xxx

Sometime it can happen through lifting heavy objects or childbirth when pushing . It could be that your uterus is positioned different my daughter had a tilted uterus so im not sure if that causes the cervix to hang low . What pesserys are you using im taking cyclogest and only have a few days left on them xx

It's strange because I DH hasn't let me carry anything heavy since we found out. I'm not sure about my uterus position, I am takin cyclogest 400mg once daily. Xx

dont play around to much as you can cause things to happen as well...like opening your cerix..make your cervix bleed...cause an infection...

so i would say leave it for the mid wife
