Change formula?

I know it's still early days and it's common for them to be sick and all that but i've heard alot of people say aptamil made their babies sick soi don't know whether to change her formula or if it's too soon?

Shes sick after nearly every feed, every other feed definately. At first, she was sick but would just go back to sleep and go with her next feed as normal but tonight after shes sick we put her down if she don't want more milk then 5 minutes later shes hungry again, so we give her some more then she just pukes that all up again. We tried her on just boiled water but she only took a bit of that, tried her on a bit of milk again and she got that down but just brought up back up again 10 minutes later.

Does this just sound like normal newborn behaviour or should we try changing formulas and see if it makes a difference?

Are you burping her often throughout her feeds?

Maybe try burping her after every half ounce or ounce, depending on how much she eats. Elyse used to get trapped bubbles of gas under the formula in her tummy and spit up everywhere because we gave up burping her too soon before.

You have a 1 week check up correct? (We do here, sorry if this is irrelevant to you) Maybe ask for advice there when they see what her weight is and you tell them what's happening.

I started Lexie on aptamil but did change to cow and gate comfort. I found aptamil really frothy! I always assumed that was the reason for her bringing it back up. xxx

def try burping her after every ounce as tasha said.. found this made a diff with luisa

we also switched from aptimal to cow and gate as the aptimal gave her constipation :(

for the first week i breastfed and zane was sick all the time and then put him on aptimal and altho he was sick on that i think its just babies really as hes still on aptimal and loves it. Talk to your health visitor she will no u and maise better enuf to give u the advice u need :)

we've always got on really well with aptamil, when adding the powder try swirling it to mix rather than shaking as this lets in less air, and im sure you've said you're burping after every oz hon, other than that i may be inclined to switch if maddi was like this :hugs:

Caitlyn was sicky on every formula apart from cow & gate.

If you want to swap formula now might be the best time. Trust yourself Laura, if you think she would suit another formula better then it won't hut to try

I feel like i don't know anything and im doing everything wrong :(.

We burp her after every ounce. Sometimes it's a right nightmare she takes ages to bring any wind up.

She was really figety and unsettled last night. After every feed she was being sick, and wouldn't take no more after that so we'd settle her to sleep then she'd wake up and start eating her hand so we thought she might be hungry so we'd feed her and shed feed again then just be sick again.. and this jsut kept happening over and over again untill 3am. She was obviously bringing up all her milk after every feed so she was hungry again, but she just wouldn't keep the milk down?

She finally kept it down at 4am and slept through i then woke her up at 8am gave her some more and shes kept that down too. It's really up and down.

Should i start giving her colic before every feed? Im sure we're not getting all her wind up, but we can be there trying for half an hour + and she still don't bring it up..

try and keep her sat up as straight as u can while purping her as wen i was burping zane at first he wasnt brining it all up. Dont worry u are not doing everything wrong ur a first time mum and she was only born the other day give urself a break. we all learn from our own mistakes and learn to listen to ourselves.

if u think she needs a different milk then change her and if the problem carrys on talk to ur hv that is what they r there for :)

It gets easier to bring wind up the older they get. It took ages to get Meadows wind up at first and I always thought I was doing it wrong.

Yeah Olivia was the same when she was younger with bringing up wind sometimes we'd have to pat her for twenty minutes plus before anthing came up. She's only 7 weeks, but it's alot easier, and she actually tends to bring it up just from sitting or moving although we still pat her back.
