I've recently moved areas so I had no choice but to change my midwife as we are in a totally different part of the country :) now, my old MW had me all booked in for the test to see if I have gestational diabetes because my BMI is 30, she explained to me that anyone with a BMI of 30 or more now has to have the test, ok that was fine by me.

BUT my new MW hasn't mentioned anything of the sort, the only thing she has asked is if any family have had GD. I will be 22 weeks this week and nothing has been said about my BMI and weather she will be sending me for the GD test?! I think I will bring it up with her at my next appointment though to be on the safe side.

Could they do things differently in different parts of the country? Or do you think it could be a case of she just hasn't mentioned it yet?

Any advice or experiences welcome ladies :flower:

My mw mentioned it to me at my booking in appt as my bmi was 31. But she is now on maternity leave and at my last appt the other mw never mentioned it, I am going to ask at next appt at 24 weeks xx

They can combine it with the 28 week bloods, or book you in at a children's centre on midwife day - but they get full up quickly.
How about doing a little research of your own and see if you want to go ahead or not?
Then ask, you can always phone the non emergency number.
Xx

Yeah, the usual time for the GD test is 28 weeks, unless you have had it in previous pregnancies then it's 16 weeks and a repeat at 28 weeks if the 16 week one was neg. x

Yeah I knew it was done somewhere around week 28 but just wasn't sure why my MW never mentioned it when I saw her last week. Thanks ladies I will be sure to mention it to her at the next appointment :)
