Jack was switched to nutramigen at 2 weeks because of reflux and fussiness but later we realized that we just weren't feeding him enough. poor thing. So, dh and I are not convinced that he needs to be on the most expensive formula since we think the true cause of his fussiness was hunger. Last week, we switched to enfamil gentlease and at first he was fine with it. Now he has been really gassy, not pooping a lot, and spitting up more than usual. Is this just him getting used to it or do I need to switch back to his other formula? We really wanted to just use gentlease as a stepping stone to the normal formula but now it looks like he doesn't even like this!

Thoughts? How long does it take for his body to get used to a new formula?

Personally I found the gentle ease smelled and probably tasted like total crap! Worst smelling stuff ever! A lot of reflux babies do really well on soy formula because they can digest it quicker than the milk based ones and it leads to less gas and fussing, bug it also may cause harder stools. The same thing happend to us though with the gentle ease and she didn't poo for three days and then screamed.. We immediately switched to similac for spit up and she's been a dream baby so far but she still spits up a little but it's definitely an improvement though. Just wanted to give you a few other options. Try not to switch up her formula a ton though because it just makes their tummies hurt for a few days getting used to the new one

Thanks! The nutramigen smelled way worse. Gross stuff! I'll give him a few more days and think about the other stuff. Enfamil also makes the AR stuff for spit up. Maybe that will work.

Erm. Nutramigen is for babys who are allergic to cows milk. If he's showing those kind of symptoms, I would go back because you could be.making him really sick.

Talk to ur doctor.
