I have decided to bite the bullet and change from Cow and Gate 1 to Aptamil 1 as my son is having issues with bad wind, I have read that Aptamil is closest to breast milk so I'm assuming that it will be easier to digest. Should I expect him to get an upset tummy for a couple of days? Has anyone else swapped milks and if so how was your little one?

If you still have some cow and gate why not change slowly and give your LO 1 feed a day on aptimal to start and then change over. I havnt changed brand but have changed from stage 1 to comfort to stage 2. She was fine. You may find you get some constipation but it only lasted a couple of days. I out kacey on aptimal comfort as she was having bad wind. It was fab and sorted her right out.

Aptamil comfort is meant to be good for wind, although they do recommend you ask HV or someone before swapping xx

I think it is recomended to speck to your HV but i just changed anyway.

I changed my LO from SMA to Aptamil at about 3 months. I told my HV what I was going to do and she said it was not a problem and she also agreed that Aptamil was the best of all the brands (although she isn't supposed to say). I just changed the milk at the beginning of one day, I didn't phase it in or anything like that. Don't notice any difference with her poo and since then I have had no problems with my LO.

i changed ollie from cow and gate to sma staydown and he was fine

I will change my LO to Aptamil as soon as the C&G is finished. Carmen is also suffering with bad wind so I am giving her Infacol. Nurse who came to see us said you wont really see the difference before week so I am hoping to see improvement any day now : )
Also sorry for being ignorant but do I have to tell my HV that I have changed Carmen to Formula (cause I haven't) We did use SMA first and changed to C&G with no problems.

Thank you all for your replies, I had mentioned to the HV last week about changing over and no probs at all. Just back from Tesco and I bought 10 of the small cartons to start off with and I can get a tub tomorrow if all goes well with it, they will come in handy if we are out and about. I just wish I had started off with Aptamil, if we have another baby I will be starting off with it. Wind is such a horrible thing for them, I read somewhere that most babies grow out of colic and wind ect when their little digestive systems mature at around 12 weeks. My nephew had the most awful colic, he would scream every afternoon for the first 3 months, It's just awful to see them going through that.

I changed Adam from SMA gold to Aptimal and have noticed that his poos have changed colour. Nothing to worry about though!!!

I changed Blair from SMA to Aptamil a couple of weeks back because shea was badly constipated and wouldn't give up her wind. She's very regular now and winding her is so easy. I didn't phase it in, I just changed over.

xx

Its so great to hear good reports. I changed Ethan straight over and so far so good. I also had him to an Osteopath today for his reflux and colic. He normally takes anywhere between 3-5 oz of a bottle but before bed I made him up a 6oz bottle and he drained it, only the tiniest wee drop came back up which is normal even for babies without reflux! I just hope it lasts

Thank you for the replies :flower:
