Changing from hungry baby back to stage 1?

Hi,

I put my little girl on cow and gate hungry baby milk at a few weeks old as she seemed to be hungry all the time and stage 1 didn't seem to fill her up at all. Now at 6 weeks old I regret changing her over as she is constantly constipated and I am sure it is the hungry baby milk, as she wasn't constipated on stage 1.

She won't take water, just scrunches her face up and spits it back out! Feel awful for her as she cries sometimes although she doesn't need feeding or changing and I know it's because of the constipation (and I feel her pain too ha, fybogel isn't doing the job!!!) She only poos once a day at the most.

Anyone change from hungry baby back to stage 1? How did your baby manage? Anyone know if it's ok to do? Got her 6 week check tomorrow so will ask doctor for advice too. Any advice on how to get her to take the water, too?

Thanks,

Sarah xxx

Once a day is quite normal, def not just a bit of trapped wind?
Does baby struggle to poo? crying?
My 18 week goes twice, the first is always a bit 'formed' and the second softer, more like a breastfed baby explosion.
We switched back from SMA Hungry to SMA stage one no problems, we even did a mixture of both, hungry at night, normal in the day (until we switched to SMA Staydown for reflux).
I did notice she had two-tone poo's though due to both milks!!
Make sure the water isn't too cold, room temp def best...x

Once a day for poop is fine, if she hadnt gone for 3/4 days id be more concerned. When my little one was a few weeks old we changed her from cow and gate as she hadnt pooed in 4 days to apatamil and have had no problems since.

Thanks for the advice, didn't realise they were only supposed to poo once a day! Think I will change back to stage 1 and also to Aptamil while I'm at it, heard that its better than Cow and Gate for wind etc. May as well give it a try!

Spoke to the baby doctor too while she had her 6 week check. She trumped the whole way through it (after she wee'd in my hand) and he said its weeks 6-10 that are worst for wind... uh oh
